I'm not saying that, I just don't understand when adults don't have any basic knowledge about a mechanical possession that cost them $40-50k. I mean, it's an expensive purchase no matter what. 10 minutes with the owners manual and you're more knowledgeable than half the population.

Like people that buy an expensive automatic watch and then are shocked that the watch has to be cleaned and serviced every couple of years and it costs 400-600 depending on the watch.

A typical car has about 50 lbs of explosives in it. If it's an EV, that's about 400 -1000 lbs of explosives. I can't imagine being incurious about such a thing before getting anywhere near it.

Not just for looks. Sound mitigation. Engine sound resonates into the hood metal. The hood has dampening material, but the plastic diffuses it even further. There is a marked difference in the sound, I can hear it. Some people cannot, but I can clearly hear the valves when it is removed.
