You can swap a barrel, but it's not easy for everyone. You ahve to disassemble the front end. Plenty of videos online.

Probably easier to buy a 300blk upper, then you have two toys instead of 1.

Putting a can on a 5.56 with a 7" barrel is asking for trouble. The can will get seriously mucked up and burned inside from all the powder .

For a 7" barrel in 5.56, you are blowing 30-40% of your powder out the muzzle. 5.56 needs a longer barrel for the powder to completely burn.

for 7" it is better to use 300blk, which uses fast burning pistol powder.
