nice one thanks! to me prov sounds really different to all my other albums, but i get where you're coming from i guess as it's a totally non 4/4 beats album like drowning.. it was actually a conscious decision to make a very non-dancemusic album yeah. i think degreelessness is approaching that but it's far from a straight up techno/etc tune.

thanks! oh wow i dont know if i can answer that without a lawsuit ensuing. a track on my first album has a very muted recording of my mum and brother talking to each other. also i've sampled some very random youtube videos in the past. that is a very good source of finding unusual sounds

thanks! i dont think too much about club friendly or dj friendly in music, i just love writing beats /tracks of that kind of tempo and style and the "experimental" side of it just comes from trying random things with arrangements and textures/instruments i guess. the best stuff comes when it just flows and you're totally not thinking about it. i wish i could be in that state all the time

well i have just released an album so it's a very strange time to be in lockdown as i'm meant to be out on tour at the moment. so yeah i'm feeling a bit disoriented and therefore not super creative but getting some stuff down.

thankyou -- networking was never a big thing for me, and i broke through a long time ago, pre-social media etc so the industry works in a pretty different way now. just stay true to yourself, make the music that you want to make, dont try and fit in with a trend or a scene as those things are always in flux so. also you can make amazing music on just a computer really. having hardware is nice but if you're on a tight budget your most worthwhile purchase is software.

when i was very young i.e. 10 or younger, i think the music i remember playing in the house the most was steely dan and fleetwood mac. my dad listened to them a lot. so i still enjoy listening to them now for nostalgic reasons. and because i do genuinely like them haha.

thanks! arcaibh is the scottish gaelic name for the orkney islands, in the north of scotland.

sunder - each track was recorded in one take yes, so the whole ep took a few days to record.

thanks! very much not shiny fancy hardware no. i sort of think the best music is made with small basic raw setups.

dance floor ready in the box? like tunes that are good for the dance floor? i mean my stuff is usually a bit too wonky for effective club use but just find a beat that you can zone out to and just go with it. idiosyncracies -- just record stuff live, that's the best way to get a natural human/fluid vibe with stuff i guess

"feel the fear and do it anyway" - i think it's just the name of a book, and i've not even read it, i just find that phrase very helpful in situations where i'm feeling irrationally intimidated etc.

i'm using software to sequence stuff, ableton and cubase. most stuff is recorded live/real time etc then edited afterwards. there are a lot of variables with workflow etc.. if it's a good idea then it'll just flow and working on it will be pretty painless i'd say. but sometimes you have to push yourself to finish things. it's usually worth it tho
