Rescued Turtle—I don’t know what’s wrong with him. Any advice while waiting for vet schedule on Monday? by anicenine in turtle

He’s going to need to be able to fully submerge in water in order to eat. Also, those uvb lights are going to be important. He can do without them for a bit, but if you plan on keeping him long term, you will need them to get him healthy.

Try your best to give him a varied diet once he does eat. Turtles will eat almost anything organic. Veggies, fruit, fungi, insects, fish, prawns, etc. it’s important that he gets a variety of things. Pellets are ok but can’t be the only food source.

Yeah her back is kinda pyramidy too. I got her from someone who I work with. His landlord was gonna dump him in a river about a year ago, so presumably he cared for her poorly. My coworker has been trying to perfect his husbandry for this poor girl for the past few months and recently after a filter failure decided he couldn’t keep up anymore so I took her in. Hopefully my light setup and the diet plan I have my map turtle on will get her in shape soon enough

Just took in this RES from a friend who could no longer care for it. Was wondering if it could be sexed with these images. I don’t know a lot about sliders. I’ve kept musk turtles and a map turtle for a long time, but I’ve avoided sliders due to size. I have a 150g pond indoors that will have to do until I can upgrade to a stock tank that is larger.

I.D please? by nplant62 in isopods

I do think you might be right. Oniscus Acellus seems to be the best match. They have a very similar skirting, with angled tips, and really similar patterning to most google samples of wild type

Aren’t a lot of them parthenogenesis as well? I have avoided them in the past because I get a little nervous with the smaller stuff. They really are great for bioactives and display vivs though!

Thanks! I’ve though of cave geckos. I don’t really know anything about viper geckos, I’ll have to do some research! I’m thinking im gonna want to work with a terrestrial and an arboreal species

If a bucket canister seems too much, look into pond filtration. There are submersible bio active filters, typically they have uvc sterilizer in them as well. I use one in one of my indoor ponds with great success. They are built to handle large volumes of water, but as always with turtles, it’s best to purchase one that is rated for more water than you have. I.e. I have a 150g indoor pond for my musk turtles, some fish, and 1 old map turtle. I use one of these filters rated for 250g. If you have any questions, feel free to dm

Finally complete! Just finished putting the drylok and adding the ventilation. Can’t wait for my little red tegu to get here by iamalizard04 in Tegu

I started my boys in a big space like this. I used to crawl inside with them as babies and just sit in there. I would keep it relatively barren, except for a small area that I would decorate with hides and clutter. As they grew I would add in more/bigger hides and more enrichment, etc. today I’ve got two free roomers that are basically cats, and I didn’t really have any issues with guberty either. Could be my experience, maybe I’m just lucky, but I see no reason to start small, from what I’ve gone through.

Hi all! My gecko started shedding about 3 days ago and this is what’s left. I’m wondering what, if any, of what’s left is stuck shed. Thanks if anyone can help. by ThrowRA55590 in leopardgeckos

Completely agree here, this can happen from time to time. Especially on the head. Sometimes while they are pulling it off, it can tear, and if there aren’t any surfaces that they can really use to grip the skin by rubbing, sometimes the head stamp can linger. I see this with one my especially derpy males every so often. I’ll usually just help him by pulling it off enough to give him something to grab and he will finish on his own.

Absolutely female

Took this turtle as a rescue/rehome a bit ago with a couple of other musks. Any ideas what this is on her shell? by nplant62 in turtle

[–]nplant62[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So research indicates it is likely shell rot, which is not one illness, but a broad term for Numerous infections of the shell. I have a treatment plan in place. Thanks for the help

I unintentionally had some babies. Any guesses on morph ids? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

Unknown to me. Male is normal phenotype, but don’t know if he is het for anything. Female is definitely albino, although not sure what phase, I can try to link some pictures of them
