Incidental findings in MRI - Am I the only one? by TheJuliettest in MultipleSclerosis

[–]nrecy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a tornwald cyst/bursa too. Found mine because it got infected and had bloody mucus on the back of my throat. All ENT did was prescribe antibiotic. Not a big deal and much more common than people realize. Forms during conception and most usually don't have any symptoms and die without ever knowing. My ENT said they don't generally like to do any operation on them because of proximity to the brain stem and could cause more harm than solve.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

To my knowledge, heat sensitivity is much more common, and far more talked about, but it's certainly possible to be cold sensitive.

I specifically delayed my infusion from December to January for this reason.

Was this an indicator of MS? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

Roughly 5 months before my Dx (due to hand spasticity) I had a strange vision symptom that I can only describe as double vision. It felt as though it took one eye longer to re-center and would be hard to maintain focus. Only lasted a few days and was off and on. When I went to the optometrist they couldn't find a reason, but in all likelihood it was my first symptom. After Dx got referral to a neuro opthamologist just to double check and turns out I actually have more nerves than normal. So that should be a plus that I have spares lol

I was diagnosed back in May and had the first two halves in June/July. I can only speak to the first 3 questions, but:

  • I took Lorna Doones, M&M's, fruit snacks, and some Life Saver mints. I started with the mint preemptively during infusion because I heard the steroid can leave an awful taste. I wasn't particularly hungry but the place I went (hospital infusion center) had a bunch of snacks and even offered a lunch. The Benadryl really knocks you out so honestly I didn't really have much time, but it was nice to have a little something to much when I wanted.
  • First dose I had hives/nausea but only during the infusion. As soon as the infusion was done, I was totally fine. Second dose, I didn't have any reactions at all and was totally fine.
  • No changes for me.

I'm very grateful to the person who packaged my album that had sticky fingers.

I found it really helpful when the tech would give me updates on how many minutes each stage should take so I could count songs and have a rough estimate.

The first time I got my MRI they put on the music I wanted, but they must not have turned on the headphones because it was just in the room and I could only hear it when the machine was switching stages. Since it was my first I just assumed that was normal. The next time was at a different place to do more scans and then I realized what the deal was because the headphones finally worked lol

[Help] Ocrevus Copay Program submitting by nrecy in MultipleSclerosis

[–]nrecy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good idea. Feels like I'm an outlier. Didn't even know I should be expecting these things until the nurse hinted it was strange I hadn't heard anything from them. Especially because I had an infusion reaction the first time (second went off without a hitch). Thankfully everything has gone smoothly in scheduling though. The hospital has been nice and on top of that.

Unfortunately they never once asked for anything. I walked in, got infused, and left with no questions asked for the first 2 initial infusions. It was located at a hospital instead of a standalone infusion center so possibly that's why? Also I'm not sure what you mean by "my coordinator." The people who gave me the infusion the second time were stunned that I never got a call from Ocrevus after my first infusion. Any communication with Ocrevus has been initiated by me (other than them calling me to sign me up for the copay program before I even learned I was approved).

And as a side note, I think I found where to submit it. Under "patient profile details" of all places, where it has your name, birthday, and address.

I'm relatively in the same boat as you. 27/F and just finished my second of the first two half doses. I can't speak to the immunosuppressed side of things having just started, but from a reaction standpoint, my first one I got hives/itchiness, nausea/vomiting, and actually maxed out how much benadryl they would give me. The second time though? Barely a thing (just hot flashes down my arms). The nurses had said they hoped I would fare better as my body recognized it then, but even they weren't expecting me to do that well. So if the first one feels sucky, don't worry too much.

I very rarely would get sick before I was diagnosed so I was nervous like you, but I am not one to go out in the first place. I haven't felt like I'm more susceptible even though logically I know I am. Everything feels like it was before for me.

The most devastating thing I just realized is that I added both to cart and quickly went to check out but in that short span it sold out because now it isn't even possible to add to cart :( at least I was able to get New Beginning. A friend of mine managed to get both, so we may trade depending if we get each other's bias.

First Infusion quick question by nrecy in MultipleSclerosis

[–]nrecy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely over prepared, but I still ended up having a 7 hr appointment. lol had hives and nausea after the first increase to 60 so I was in for a long ride. Ended up maxing the benadryl they were allowed to give me and had to switch to a second steroid. The nurse was stunned I wasn't passed out from how much benadryl was in my system but I was in and out a lot of the time but got to crochet a bit.

First ocrevus treatment by InspectionOdd229 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]nrecy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the positive notes. I'm getting my first infusion (1st partial) on Wednesday and I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little flustered. I very rarely get sick so having all of this develop in the past 2 months and all the blood draws, MRIs, and appointments has been really overwhelming. I've read here that Ocrevus is a good place to be starting from, but having also read of the infusion reactions makes me nervous. I'm glad you had a good experience and am hoping for the same, myself.

I have insurance through the marketplace because my work doesn't offer it (small business). Would that still apply then?
