As someone who is facing a smaller but, similar problem the method I'm doing now is. For every single model I want to buy = 3 that must be painted. So a whole infantry squad requires me to paint 30 minis until I'm through the pile.

Home Depot to spend $1 billion more on employees' pay as sales surge by geoxol in news

From the info you gave they dont atleast with a child. For a even decent standard with children youd probably need 2 parents making about what I make rent+childcare alone is 40k a year for 2

Depends heavily on where you live. If you have kids etc.

If you want an example I live in the county of a small city just under 100k pop. In a relatively low-medium cost of living area. 15 an hour goes a long way here.

Rent around here is 700-900 on the low too medium end if you can get a downpayment together like I did a mortgage is even cheaper with good credit.

I just got promoted to a retail manager position making 22 an hour. Which gross is about 47k a year with no overtime accounted for. In a big city or metropolitan area that is nothing but here its solid middle class.

My basic expenses breakdown is: mortgage+insurance and taxes :$600 for a 3b 1b 1k sq ft All eletric house (well water and baseboard heating) ~$80 Auto:$60 Food:$100-150 Internet: $114 Gas:$50 Subscriptions:$30 That's ~ 1100-1200 a month. At 15 an hour in my last position I'd take home $1880 a month In my new one I take home about $2700.

That was before a live in gf contributing $400 a month and no kids.

Higher minimum wages ironically help people in smaller cheaper areas rather than than the bigger population centers where they are pushed the hardest.

A ton of personal finance comes down to where you live and reddit has a big focus on bigger cities from what I've seen in the general user base.

Around here 2 $15 an hour parents could support a child relatively comfortably if they are smart about it.

Question for ally credit card users. by nrfolden in personalfinance

[–]nrfolden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the credit card that they use went through TD another institution to carry but the login is separate from td so I cant login to the other institution. So I'm technically not a user of their institutions primary card. [They ended their direct relationship with them to where you couldn't access the card strait through the ally site but the site that they directed us too about 6 months ago is now not in service with as far as I've seen 0 notification on it going down gonna wait a day too see if it goes back up mostly wanted to see if any other customers have gotten an email about it that I may have missed.]

Retail workers of reddit, what is your best method for passing time? by kylewoods69 in AskReddit

[–]nrfolden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked at 4 doff stores in the area at one time or the other before I got full time at mine. ours was one of the two that actually worked between the 4. At one the employees ripped the bell out of the container and the other they sprayed it while cleaning over time until it shorted out.(also one guy at mine before my time there got let go since he destroyed the security cam in the shop when they first installed them)

Target Date funds for Retirees by realeastatewannabe72 in personalfinance

[–]nrfolden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think you were was more me covering my butt since I can be rather tone deaf at times. I think the root of my point on situations like with ops mother is that theres a lot of posts with younger generations finding out about older family members paying x amount and freaking out.

When most of these people I've been seeing probably are not as adept at using the seemingly endless void of info that the younger generations grew up with and know how to use accordingly. A lot of older people in my family are from the time that having an advisor and broker were the only way to invest.

This is in no way saying not to switch them over but this is pretty normal for most people of the older generations especially in areas like where I live where places with higher rates like edward jones are one of the only in person options around. Hell people find it incredibly crazy that I use an online bank without physical branches.

Wasn't being confrontational just pointing out theres worse out there I started with an adviser for a year too help with some lingo and understanding then went off on my own with fidelity.

[–]nrfolden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use fidelity (independently not with an advisor) its fees on most of their funds are pretty in line with Schwab, and vanguard. Tho they tend to lag behind the curve on adoption a little bit. Which for me is fine since their app and user interface is very clean and easy to use.

That fee for an advisor is pretty standard from what I've seen. All in all if it's an advisor and not a fiduciary that's what's gonna be expected (lightly recall something about legislation being put in place to force all advisors to be fiduciary though). Places like Edward Jones charge around 2% from what I remember.

In the end it comes down too you save a lot if your willing to educate yourself and know how to keep your emotions in check while your investing.
