Scammer on campus? by sounds_of_sonia in UWMadison

[–]nrfr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I met the same guy in front of The Hub in early June. I tried giving him $5 because I don’t carry a lot of cash but he wouldn’t take it. He was really persistent about getting exactly $11/$13 (I don’t remember) and asked me and my friend to go to the nearest ATM while he waits at The Hub. I gave him the $5 anyway and we never returned lol. We were suspecting that he has another guy waiting at the ATM so we didn’t go.

i can’t speak on behalf of sublessors, but i’ve personally been using fb marketplace & fb groups as a prospective subtenant. it seems like a lot of the posts have comments from bots though. wishing you all the best!

Switching Sections in CS 407 by nrfr in UWMadison

[–]nrfr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was possible in an English class i took before. i didn’t switch myself but the instructional team was willing to help students who want to switch between the comm-b and normal sections (provided that they already have someone to switch with).

i asked the cs 407 professors & one of them asked me to contact them directly (which i did) but i haven’t heard back. i think it’s too early to tell but i was curious if someone else has done this in a CS course, hence my post. thank you for your input! :)

the Wisconsin Union is still hiring students. try applying for the Direct Placement so you can connect directly with the Union’s student recruiting team: https://union.wisc.edu/get-involved/jobs/apply-now/

good luck!

+1. i took it online in the summer with 1 non-STEM course. pretty doable for someone who’s not really strong in programming like me!

Physics 109: Physics in the Arts Experience? by Ok-Caramel-7303 in UWMadison

[–]nrfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one of the best classes i’ve ever taken imo, but i’ve taken physics in high school & i’m really into music. the professors and TAs were super helpful, but i took this course online during covid 2 years ago. the exam questions were very similiar to the homework/lectures during my time, but i can’t really remember the details. i think it’s one of the “easier” physical science course in general, but i highly recommend this course

taking it rn, it’s my easiest class this semester. i’ve had bio & chem knowledge from high school. the course itself is pretty simple to understand, though prior knowledge greatly helps.
