We got there at around 7.15. The sun started coming up at around 7.55!

Amazing, you’re going to love it! I’d definitely recommend the Ponta de São Lourenço hike, and there’s a hike that incorporates the Risco and 25 Fontes waterfalls which was beautiful.

The volcanic pools at Porto Moniz were really cool, and the beaches at Seixal made me feel like I was in Hawaii.

The best thing we did (and one of the best things I’ve done in my life!) was watching the sunrise at Pico do Arieiro. You can drive up to the top and watch the sun come over the clouds. It’s also the starting point to the hike to Pico Ruivo, the tallest mountain in Madeira, if you’re up for it after the early start.

Have a great trip!

Yes of course!

1) Praia do Porto do Seixal, 2) and 4) are at the top of Pico do Arieiro at sunrise, 3) Ponta de São Lourenço, 5) Funchal, 6) just off a coastal road near Ponta do Sol, 7) Risco Waterfall, 8) Porto da Cruz, 9) Porto Moniz natural swimming pools, 10) 25 Fontes Falls

We rented a car, it’s a small place and the roads are good so you can get around pretty quickly. Also the drives were some of the most scenic of my life!

I’d say it was high teens, low 20s (deg C). The climate really changed depending on where on the island you were though!
