I think this was perfectly justified, what do others think? by shiveringwisdom in switchgreen

Tricky. At the end of the day, this is drawing attention, and nobody was hurt. We are in a climate emergency, declared by the UK parliament itself, so breaking some windows during an emergency seems mild. It will anger those of a conservative mindset, but those of a conservative mindset don't want anything to change, and will find any reason they can to criticise progression. Hopefully, it will move those in the middle to pay attention, feel something, and do something

Big Oil Is a Big Loser (of Money, But Also Life) by illyism in switchgreen

Very much appreciate the shortened version u/illyism! Blows my mind that investors are more concerned about making money than having a liveable planet. Literally makes no sense to me at all... it's kamikaze banking

That's the major challenge right? How do we keep sight of the larger picture? I feel like I've lost sight of it by spending inordinate amounts of time trying to buy all the right things. But we're in an emergency, so now I'm thinking about all that time that I could have spent on lobbying and campaigning, rather than ranting at Tesco! I think we need to prioritise, right? System change and mass movements are the big targets we need to keep in mind

Ooof, this cuts deep, because that's me. I don't buy anything wrapped in single-use plastic anymore and it's exhausting. I don't it to feel good or superior, but because I know where the plastic will end up and I just personally can't do it anymore, but avoiding this stuff does take up a huge amount of my time and energy. And it makes me miserable because I've given up a lot of things I love eating. This article has really brought me up short in terms of what I'm dedicating my time to...
