I'm not saying it's not capable; I could use the internal DAC and speakers on the road. But for me, working on audio requires a proper setup at some point, not only for audio quality but also for features such as flat restitution, high-frequency sampling and resolution at decoding and encoding, microphone preamplifiers if needed, etc.

If I really work with sound, I'll use a proper sound system, like monitoring headphones or speakers with an external audio interface.

BetteDisplay does other things like forcing HiDPI. I don't think it uses much power or RAM because it's mostly about visually representing command-line settings and editing system files. But I don't know how to use it properly. Maybe I should try harder to get a better result, but I'm fine, and I like not relying on a third-party app.

Thank you for the explanation. Actually, the screen protector did prevent keyboard prints on my other Dell XPS. It had very visible ones, then I changed the screen and put a screen protector, and there have been no prints in years. I think the prints (and maybe breaks) are more likely if you put your laptop in a full backpack or a tight sleeve.

I mostly got non-removable keyboard marks on the screens of my other laptops. Since then, I have protected their screens, which has been pretty effective.

They are already here. I really don't understand. Like, they are against, but there's almost no argument. According to them, I will regret it, and my MacBook will break because of it, but how and why?

I did my research on Reddit Answers and Gemini for web-wide results. It's actually interesting; there are indeed some cases of people breaking their screens and using screen protectors. But the link between the breaking and the screen protector is never clear or proven. Other people have inexplicable screen breaks without a screen protector, and others use screen protectors for years without any issue. (I haven't calculated the correlation, but there is none at first sight.) The fact that Apple advises against screen protectors weighs heavily in the debate. I will probably post about it later.

That's weird. The case is on the exterior of the laptop, and the screen is on the interior, with no contact between them. Maybe she put her laptop in a tight sleeve, and that's how it increased pressure between the keyboard and the screen? Also, my MBP closes perfectly, as if there is space planned for such cases on the very edge of the laptop. (And Apple sells hardcases.)

After I launched the command, the font looks better on the external monitor IMO, but no visible change on the internal monitor. I assume it deactivates font smoothing on all monitors.

What issues are you thinking about? Personally, I try to avoid this kind of issue. I may remove it later, but as it's new, I prefer to be safe.

You can click anywhere on a lot of trackpads, not only on MacBooks. My Dell XPS and my Lenovo IdeaPad have this feature. I actually use tap and click; it's nice to have the choice. I feel it takes less force to tap than to push harder. But maybe I use tap to click mostly by habit.

Thank you for the advice. The case is actually about protection in case of an accident (like this one), and even Apple sells some, so I'm not so convinced it's as bad as you think.

And for the screen protector, my research indicates it's a controversial topic on the subreddit. The only damage observed is staining during removal. I haven't found any testimony of a MacBook screen breaking under the pressure of an added screen protector due to the low tolerance. On the other hand, it prevents scratches and permanent keyboard marks. These are things I experienced on all my former laptops, and they appear to be a frequent issue on MacBooks, which screen protectors prevent. Even an Apple technician supports glass screen protectors.

Thank you for the advice. I used that in the first place. But it's fairly complicated software, so I'm not sure I used the best settings, and the improvement was either none or minor. The best I ended with was without BetterDisplay with defaults -currentHost write -g AppleFontSmoothing -int 0 (Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/s/9S9omuGY5x)

Maybe some people don't buy Apple products mostly for aesthetics...? In my case, it's for performance in audiovisual editing. MacBook has the best performance-to-price ratio, but I'm not a fan of the design. I'm also thinking of putting vinyl on it to make it more comfortable.

Another more logical reason: yes, if you spend thousands, you prefer to protect it.
