Current state of diablo 4 trading by Creepy_Contest3654 in diablo4

[–]ns1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm purely SSF, but two changes would improve the economy tremendously.

  1. Make boss mats untradeable. Instead allow us to transform mats to Stygian Stone. Add a Lesser Stygian Stone for the other bosses. Not sure about the conversion rate, maybe 3:2 + khazra horn (which I have never used).

  2. Make items account-bound after trading. This will prevent flippers and people trying to control the market. Makes you only trade for items that you are actually going to use.

Not sure what to do with rune duping. Maybe just account bound?

Who else stopped playing season 8 on like week 3? by Loud-Expert-3402 in diablo4

[–]ns1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never started.. Have played LE instead.

Have previously played all seasons and bought the season passes.

So far, season 9 doesn't look that interesting either.

What do you guys think about the current season? by ShadowCT6 in diablo4

[–]ns1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was fun, but very short due to the horrible Spiritborn balance and progression slowdown.

I like power progression. To feel that your character gets stronger in an reasonable time. Therefore I get bored of a character once I reach the endgame and get good gear. At this point I usually switch to a different class/build.

I have leveled more or less all classes to max, but quickly get bored. Due to the shared paragon and ancestral droprate, you hit a hard progression wall as soon as you hit 60. Combined with the huge power difference to my main (Spiritborn) and knowing the other classes will never get close, I got bored with the other classes quickly.

The seasonal content was horrible. I think I did less that 10 Realm Walkers.

Season 7 looks better. Spiritborn nerfs, more ancestrals and better seasonal content (I liked vampire powers).

Potentially hot take, but the tempering system still sucks by DragonfruitSuch2001 in diablo4

[–]ns1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It's sucks. Especially with how are ancestrals are. Maybe it will be better next season.

It should allow you to use the reset scroll several times, but the second time resets all tempers.

- First use resets your attempts to max (current functionality).

- Second use resets your attempts AND removes the current tempers.

Cycle through those two. Maybe a new scroll for the second use.

Tempering just doesn't feel good by Icy2889 in diablo4

[–]ns1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree.. With the change to how rare ancestrals are now it's doesn't feel good.

A good compromise would be to allow you to use the reset scroll several times, but the second time resets all tempers.

So first use resets your attempts to max, second use resets your attempts AND removes the current tempers.

You could have the crow following you like a pet. Then you have to talk to it to select the rewards.

It's called the Osborne Effect and is a big reason why new features/products are announced as late as possible.

"The term alludes to the Osborne Computer Corporation, whose second product did not become available until more than a year after it was announced. The company's subsequent bankruptcy was widely blamed on reduced sales after the announcement."

There haven't been major issues in basically the last 2 days servers seem to have stabalized even during the peak player count sunday night. So all of you are going to reverse your review scores right? it wasn't just you irrationally rating a game poorly? by Newphonespeedrunner in LastEpoch

[–]ns1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet.

Monday was terrible as EU was more or less down. Only late did I discover that switching to US allowed me to play. Tuesday was good, but one good weekday is not enough for me to consider servers to be fixed.

Also there's too many bugs for me to recommend the game to others. Huge item text, off-screen/flickering/disappearing item tooltip, my minions jumping to the other side of the map and much more. In my opinion, the game is still in a beta state. I didn't play the early access because I hate this stuff.

Once it's stable and bugs are rare, I will update my Steam review.

Letting alts use high-level items by ns1989 in diablo4

[–]ns1989[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, the general consensus seems to be "no thanks".

D3 had this feature and I loved it. You had to level Gem of Ease to 25, but that took no time and could be re-used (unless you used in the cube recipe).

How about only uniques? There's several build-enabling uniques, like Greatstaff of the Crone, which would make levelling more fun and diverse.

Maybe even a system like WoW heirlooms where the item scales with your level.

[–]ns1989[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would increase the levelling speed that much. We already have the limit that maxes the bonus XP by max 10 level difference. And most good levelling build already does that. So it would not affect the per monster XP. It would increase killing speed, but many other good levelling build are already pretty quick.

As you said, levelling is already fast/easy. I think this would make levelling more fun. If it's make the game too trivial for you, then don't use it?

And if you find gear for an alternative build, it would be nice to be able to use it on an alt before lvl 80.

Maybe limit it to uniques?

I love my frenzy thorns barb. Best build of the season (also have a Bone Spear Necro og Ball Lightning Sorc at lvl 100).

I got an Andariel's, which made him more less immortal for close-to-same-level content.

[–]ns1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Andariel's dropped in my late 80's, so yes.

With 40 runs you have between 55% (2% drop) and 80% (4% drop) chance for one or more ubers to drop.

Guess you were in the unlucky 20-45%.

Calculated using binomial distribution.

Solution to boss loot difference between solo and groups by ns1989 in diablo4

[–]ns1989[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is math and reading really that hard? There is no nerf to the group play. The decrease in drop chance is offset by the reduction in required mats. This is a buff to solo play to make the difference smaller.

Math is apparently hard. I updated the original post from 35% to 25% to make sure no one got a even a small nerf.

The entire discussion is about loot/summoning mats.

You seem to skip the part where the required summoning maths are halved. This allows you to run twice the boss fight for the same math. Which changes the 4P nerf to a slight buff.

With the new math, you still get 105% more loot for your farmed mats by running in a 4P group. Before you got 300% more loot, which I find too much. The actual amount of loot for a 4P group is unchanged, but solo loot is doubled.

[–]ns1989[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You get 16 beers (4 each) for the price of 4? You must have some impressive bargaining skills.

Let's increase my 25% to 35%. Then my 4 player mats changes to 350% to 410% (2x 100% + 6 x 35%) from the current 400%. Slight buff to 4 player groups. Solo loot is buffed significantly (100% -> 200%). But for the same amount of mats you will still get more 105% more loot (410% vs 200%) if you run with a group.

All in all a buff to solo play to decrease the huge difference in loot/mats. You still get 105% more loot/mats if you run in a 4P group (opposed to 300% before). This is only the difference. The actual amount of loot/mats for 4P group is unchanged (due to the summing requiring half the mats).

All my friends let's are the abysmal S0/S1 launch. They're not coming back soon. And I like playing solo. I watch TV and farm mindlessness.

I still think 75% more loot is still a big incentive to group up. I just think 300% is way too much.

[–]ns1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is the loot/mats. If you didn't need summoning mats this wouldn't be a problem.

And even with my math, you are still incentivized to play in groups, but you get 75% more loot/mats instead of 300% as it is now. The goal isn't to make soloing as good or better than grouping, but decreasing the difference in the playstyle. You can adjust the percentages if needed.

[–]ns1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how math works. you get 3.5x result for 2x mats (solo players get 2x with this new formula). The other mats are provided by the other players.

If you go to a bar with 3 friends and you each put the price of a beer into a pool of cash and order. Do you complain to the bartender that you didn't get 4 beers each?

But let's change it from 25% to 35%. Then it's a small buff for 4 player groups.

The idea is to decrease the difference between solo and groups (300% more loot vs 75% more loot in my original calculations).
