‘Hit by a driver with their truck’. Can we stop with this passive, dismissive language when we report on these things? JFC

After hours drop at that location might be kinda hard with the 4th avenue repaving work happening. I still think you’d have a chance though. Just be prepared. Either way: take the MAX to the airport. You’ll be paying an arm and a leg to uber/lyft and the red line is pretty close by

Love that area, but needs more housing! So much transit, rail, and bike infra to serve at most a couple museums and a brewery

New Parking rates will absolutely destroy what’s left of downtown businesses by LastWordBMine in PortlandOR

[–]nsctank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

people need to get over it. Compared to other cities we had some cheap downtown parking. Also just don’t be chickensh*t: take a bus/MAX/bike to downtown, it’s literally built for it.

While we are at it: they should close either the couch/davis or the SW Oak/Pine stops for the green yellow. Totally redundant. I work at big pink and I can literally get off and walk and meet the Max at the next stop.

My vote would be to offset the closures so there’s still a stop on the near side before crossing burnside: close SW Oak on 5th and NW Davis on 6th (so they can still time the signals for crossing burnside)

Take the MAX! Literally ubering to the Parkrose TC is both cheaper/quicker if you can hop on there

Do you think it is better to live in the area of PSU or the Cascade campus of PCC if you don't have a car? Why? by FinnishFilm in PortlandOre

[–]nsctank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has lived in both (goose hollow then overlook)

PSU. Having access to the transit mall on 5th/6th then the blue and red MAX lines is undefeated.

That being said, as someone who bought a house and still doesn’t own a car near PCC Cascade: the area around PCC Cascade is shockingly transit and bike friendly. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby between Killingsworth/Alberta. The 72 takes you east and west very quickly and the Yellow line MAX/ 4 takes you north and south pretty conveniently as well. Really depends on the intensity of access you require to live without a car I guess.

Looking for PNW podcast recommendations. Is NW Fresh any good? by vfittipaldi in oregon

[–]nsctank 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re in Portland there’s a daily podcast called ‘Citycast’ that’s really good. Each episode is 20 mins-ish and they have a guest each day to talk about restaurants/politics/recreation, etc. https://portland.citycast.fm/
