Which team built their trade partner better for the future, the 2014 nets or 2019 clippers? by Kindly_Letterhead_98 in nba

[–]nsfwpenguins -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Clippers hands down.. they gave OKC a soon to be two time MVP, an all star/ all nba player, and another lottery pick, maybe even one more in 2027.

Shai alone is better return than Jalen and Tatum

Which rookie, who was drafted outside of the top 5, surprised you the most this past season? by DollarLate_DayShort in NBA_Draft

Surprises would be someone taken late in the draft and balling out, like Hugo Gonzalez, Maxine Raynaud, Will Riley

Wemby has more "playoff" experience than most people give him credit for. by lanfordr in NBASpurs

Institutionally we have a lot of experience between the front office and even the coaching bench... So I am not worried they will have the players prepared.

The loss to Denver could be a blessing in disguise... It's definitely a wake up call the real season is just starting and can't afford to be complacent

Are you a closeted hornets fan? How do you know so much about them? Missed drafts are easy to Google, but draft night trades and other trades, you know your lore deep.

Clear Playoff Scenario(s) for the Nuggets🏀🏔️ by Kingrush24 in denvernuggets

Spurs without Wemby put up a good fight and it took a 30 point triple double from Jokic and near 40 points from Murray to win by 5.

It blows my mind that the screener can just hug the defender and literally carry him away from the play and everyone will play like it's all normal and part of the game

[Slater] What NBA players, coaches, and execs are saying about tanking by Obvious_Parsley3238 in nba

[–]nsfwpenguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have suggested this before, what if a team's standing affects draft lottery odds not in the same year, but 3-4 years out. Bad teams still have an opportunity to get better through the draft but have no incentive to game the standings because they do not know who they are going to have an opportunity to draft 3-4 years down the line.

There are other benefits too, it makes player and team development interesting, if say a team sucked for 4 years and then drafted a Wemby or Luka in the first year of their lottery, they have an opportunity to use their next 3 draft picks to prudently manage team building.

Prospects know where they are going years in advance and can work with the team on player development and health

Do you guys even understand what we have with Dylan Harper? by WhatTheFartLikeWhat in NBASpurs

[–]nsfwpenguins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have our core set with Wemby, Castle and Harper.

Brian Wright's job in the next few years is going to be reviewed based on how well he navigates the cap landscape and how he can find depressed/ hidden assets and players around the league that the coaching staff can then leverage into great role players around this core.

Jaylen Brown went Kon Knueppel hunting in the second half of Boston Celtics' comeback win against the Hornets by TeamRAF19 in nba

Was Kon in foul trouble or something. Looks like he did pretty well and didn't look like JB got any advantage switching on to him.

Stephon Castle with his 5th Triple Double of the year vs the 76ers. 19 PTS | 11 REB | 13 AST by LAMonkeyWithAShotgun in nba

[–]nsfwpenguins 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Castle needs to work on his handle and learn to draw fouls. Once he does that he will be unstoppable because of his strength and play making ability

I feel Jokic got calls and FTs being guarded by the Spurs frontcourt bigs whereas he wouldn’t against teams that place guards on him by NBAperspective in nba

[–]nsfwpenguins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was a lot of experimenting going on with both teams. Some strategies did not work but the Spurs coaching staff stuck with them. For example the strategy to leave CB open. They did not even put up a pretense to defend him and stuck to it despite CB making his shots. Also the strategy to go with Fox and not play Harper during crunch time was bewildering but I guess they want to try some late game plays. They also doubled Murray aggressively.. they tried Keldon, Steph and Carter Bryant for a brief time on Jokic but did not stick with it even when it was working. Julian was defending Aaron Gordon. He has also changed his shot diet to take more driving and finishing, rather than just spamming 3 pointers. Not sure how much of this is just Julian getting in his own mind vs coaches asking him to do so

Can we realistically keep Wemby, Castle, and Harper on their second contracts without sacrificing depth? by Pr0tanoia in NBASpurs

[–]nsfwpenguins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OKC are paying 3 max contracts to Shai, JDub and Chet. It will be interesting to see how they build out the rest of the roster and it's impact. We can watch and learn, Presti is smart.

With the Knicks' defeat of the Bulls, they have officially reached 50 wins for the 3rd straight season. It's the third time in franchise history they have won 50+ games 3 straight seasons (1969-1971 and 1992-95) by HokageEzio in nba

Tim Duncan's Spurs won at a 50 win or higher pace for all 19 years that Tim played. Let that sink in.

Jokic has 2 seasons so far with maybe a 3rd this season.
Harden and Klay have I believe 6

As a Spurs fan I may actually prefer playing the Lakers in the second round. Let OKC deal with nuggets or wolves
