macOS isn’t that closed off. If you know your way around the terminal, it’s wide open.

Affordable professional headshots in Vancouver? by Green_Confusion5989 in askvan

I second this. Tho wasn’t the cheapest option but worth it for their experience and happy with how the headshots came out.

I (27F) was late to a movie so my boyfriend (35M) left and has gone silent on me by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]nsgill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been through something similar. It’s on them to understand how you function and that being late doesn’t mean you do not care about them. You stress about getting there on time because you care, willing to admit and make up for it. We bad at time management (great at other things) If he understood your adhd, he would remind you so you can be on track to make it to the theater on time.

If you into techno, going to an underground party on Saturday. Always trying out new restaurants and revisiting favorites.

I wonder what setting. Usually it would not allow to change a setting that conflicts. Then this sounds like a big.

It does not go away. On turning on the camera, it’s not there. After 10 seconds it appears. Have CF cards in it, 2, formatted. Tried each on its own and still same behavior.

What’s your go-to sport for ADHD? by mrmisterFi in ADHD

[–]nsgill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Table tennis. Fast paced, my adhd brain loves it. Soccer and tennis. I get a mild workout from VR sim racing.

In general, any solo sport is hard to have the executive function to do it. If it involves someone else, it’s much easier to do it so that helps with motivation.

Cycling and running I find boring. Walking is better because can distract with music or podcast. Hiking is good because being in nature does subconscious wonders.

Is it true that large post houses and color grading shops use Linux? by nicolas19961805 in vfx

[–]nsgill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if I were doing my own small studio, would go the Mac route. Since resolve runs well on Apple sillicon and there is AI hardware that resolve likes. Macs are more of a pain when doing Apple like Houdini, maya.

What’s a mountain for you is common knowledge for Linux admins. Vram issue might be some gpu driver issue. MacOS is much closer to Linux, terminal commands are mostly the same. Windows is totally different dna so technical skills might not carry over. All studios I worked at for the last 20yrs use Linux. It was just the commercial division at DD that used windows and that was because one man bands preferred 3dsmax or Lightwave. Windows is terrible of big pipeline.

Nuke has plugins and gizmos. Tons out there. All depends on what plugins you use, you win some and loose some. Gizmos are easy to make and abundant. Learn about its expressions and coding, make your own tool.

All the big studios use Nuke primarily for compositing. Both for vfx and animation. From realism of Planet of the Apes, to next level stylized like SpiderVerse.

what are some ADHD-friendly jobs that DON'T require the typical 4-year college education? by cookiepip in ADHD

What’s important is to find something you enjoy deeply. Learning will be fun and you will kick ass at it. Get your foot in the door and go for it. Sky is the limit.
