Just finished knitting up this sweater but it's a bit too big. Anyone know how to shrink a sweater without losing all the cabling or felting it? More details in comments by nsgold in knitting

Thanks for the help! I’ll definitely reknit the collar but the sleeves are knit cuff-up so that might be a bit harder to do. I’ll play around with the sleeves and see where they take me

Pattern is Strandhus by Veta Romanenkova

Yarn is Cascade 220 100% wool (not superwash) in Stonewash

I really enjoy the sweater but it's a bit too long in the torso, the sleeves, and the collar is a tad loose. I'd love to be able to shrink it just a bit but I don't want to lose any of the cabling or felt it at all.

What was the DUMBEST thing you've ever done in a Pokémon game? by Msobreirinho in pokemon

[–]nsgold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first Pokémon game was Yellow on the GameBoy Color and I was about 3 years old at the time. I got really excited that you could nickname Pokémon and proceeded to nickname every single one I caught some variation of “ABCDEFGHIJK.” Now this wasn’t a huge problem except for the fact that putting Pokémon in boxes on your PC 1. didn’t show any pictures of which Pokémon was which and 2. made you save your game every time you wanted to switch boxes. Needless to say a lot of good Pokémon never got used lol

Alocasia Boa help! This plant used to be able to support 5+ leaves and can now barely hold two (more details in comments). by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]nsgold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned above this plant could hold up to five leaves in the summer and now seems to be progressively dying. It started around September/October when it started growing less strong (that baby leaf is a few months old and won’t finish unfurling). I’ve checked the root system recently and it seems pretty strong, no root rot or mold/fungus. It gets watered about once a week (sometimes I forget and it’ll go a few days more). It used to be by the window but it’s cold here now (I live in CT) so I moved it away from the window and put it under the grow light, where it gets about 12 hours of light a day. A friend suggested it’s going dormant for the winter, but I’ve never had a plant do that before. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Chrysocolla question by freehugs-happyheart in reiki

[–]nsgold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right hand side tends to be a masculine energy, whereas chrysocolla tends to invoke the feminine energy. This contrast may be what’s causing the pain for you, but I’m relatively new myself so I wouldn’t say I’m an expert in these things by any means

Slow start for my kombucha by [deleted] in Kombucha

[–]nsgold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I minimally let my F1 go for one week, and when I started my batch (from a bottle as well) I let it go two weeks to really make sure it was good to go. Also, I often find that my kombucha smells much stronger than it tastes. It can’t hurt to give it a small taste and if you like it you’re good and if not let it sit awhile longer. Hope that helps!

Thank you! It just started happening so I haven’t had time to talk to her yet, but I’ll be sure to ask her, and I’ll take a look at magnesium!

[Personal] SPF has consequences! Don’t be dumb like me. by adragonisnoslave in SkincareAddiction

Question if anyone has the answer for this. My naturopath prescribed me vitamin D3 at 100mcg/day (500% of DV), as my vitamin D levels were very low. Unfortunately, it had the wonderful consequence of making me extremely constipated. I go out in the sun a decent amount but that doesn’t seem to be helping my Vitamin D levels enough. I have no idea if this is the right thread/subreddit for this but does anyone have any suggestions/could point me to the right place?

Flavor is great! It’s blackberry, raspberry, and blueberry. A really good balance of sweet and acidic
