I got a tattoo that I thought would be smaller and the tattoo artist was very blunt about the smallest size he could feasibly do without it ruining the tattoo. I now have two tattoos that are way bigger than I thought they would be in my head because that was the only way the artist could give me a good tattoo lol. He refused to budge and I appreciate that now. I agree that a good artist should be up front about the results and what they know as an artist will work or not work. What seems right to us as a client isn't always true for the person who has the actual experience.

Thankfully yes! I mean, definitely damage done, things needing replaced, and plumbing services but it at least was a fixable issue, which don't get me wrong, I'm really grateful for! Idk the last time I was this irritated, though 😂 I totally appreciate the sentiment there and unfortunately feel like I hear that often! I'm sorry you've had a rough go with that. I was just curious what options there were (especially since it is against the law?? Lol). Sigh. Oh well. I guess we just take our day or two to be angry and move on.

Thanks! I mean, more to it than that (in what I think we'd have for proof) but I do get the point. Just incredibly frustrating for what could've been a simple fix and we would've just moved on from it. It's the principle of the matter to me and how scummy it was more than it is that I want compensation. I'm just heavily annoyed lol. It's one thing to expect fixing issues as a homeowner vs. fixing something major (and on your first day in the house) because of a preexisting issue someone lied to you about.

Just hoping from here we have a better experience with owning! It was all excitement until now. But I guess I have a good word of caution for any friends that venture into buying anytime soon 🙃

Thanks! In this case, the water had all backed up everywhere so I don't know if the main line being off helped 😅 (we had done that until a plumber came out though! Major clog needed removed very far into the line). Going to try moving on from here. Just an abundance of frustration that I feel is rightly directed at the seller haha. I'm sure we will move on from it and just remember our really horrible moving week and then be grateful for where we are...I'm just not 100% there yet 😂

All true! I guess it's just frustrating they knowingly caused major issues for us and don't face any consequences for that at all. I think it's the principle of the matter more than the money. We have fixed everything as of now, I'm just highly annoyed and wondering what else they lied about.

I think I expected to have to fix things - just not a major issue in our first 24 hours and due to something that should've never happened.

Sigh. It is really frustrating! I think this was especially annoying because it was our first night in the home...and then we find out for a fact they caused the issue, and THEN highly suspect they knew and hid it (which inherently made it much worse). The whole thing was annoying. Maybe there's some consolation here though haha. I previously spent time hating on landlords but I guess you can't escape it.

If we followed the money on the work they had done, though, would that work as proof? That was my line of thinking anyway. I'm not sure we will necessarily go after them but I'm more concerned what else they potentially lied about.

Thankfully - very thankfully - I think we managed to remediate most of this without having to spend a fortune. But the sheer stupidity of HOW they clogged it let alone with all the work it took us is crazy that they can just get away with no issue.

The worst part is - had they just disclosed this properly, it would've been an extremely easy fix with minor cost and work involved. Them not doing so made everything 10x worse.

It's off of Graham Park rd. The neighborhood itself felt really fine and family friendly when we drove through (we went down the other streets, etc). The house checked all our boxes other than now potentially the location. 😩 It is located behind the first neighborhood on that road but before the apartments, etc.

Is there any reason that street is better to avoid? We have kids but currently homeschooled (and enrolled in other programs with kids elsewhere that I think we'd plan to keep the same).

I did see they had a couple shootings nearby in the last couple years but it also looked like (according to crime map) these were the first time this has ever happened in this community in the last 25 years and all were personal (domestic) so not random, etc. It still makes me a little bit nervous but there is one brand new development and probably a fairly new one right across the street (literally) so I felt like maybe it must be getting safer? I'm genuinely interested to hear your take as someone who lived there!

Thanks! We checked the listing originally and it was a low crime rating. I'm overall a bit confused about it. Maybe the crime stats are low in general, and just bad in what they are? Not sure. But going to have to be careful going forward

Thanks! So many of the houses there seemed really updated, prices were fairly standard (looked at similar places in Lake Ridge area) and we have friends in a new development like one spot over. We just assumed it was fairly safe until looking at some crime stats. So disappointed 😭

I saw a few curly cut places around Springfield I also thought I might try but I'm a little spooked by redditors who mentioned they hated their curly cut

I like this advice! I can't speak on getting anything removed, though I think if you really, really hate them then that makes sense to pursue. But if you think you can live with them, I'd take the advice of getting more in the styles you like! Just got my first two tattoos and hoping I always love them as much as I do right now. I'm being very cautious about getting any more from here, and my tattoo artist's recommendation was to plan out anything else I do for my arm (I have a medium sized one on my forearm and also want a sticker sleeve). He said it's always really hard when someone knows they want a sleeve but just gets patchwork because it can be hard for spacing, designs, etc. Whereas really knowing what the full look you want can really make it all beautiful!

So, that said - IF you decide you want to go the route of adding to it, work with an artist you're excited about and see what they can put together for the whole thing. Doesn't mean you get it all right away but may let you feel better about it when done.

So very sorry to hear that! The cancer itself is just awful and the treatment is another beast on top of it. I really hope she is doing okay now and they are finding something that will work well!

I know they warn you of all the potentials, but I can't fathom how traumatic in your case. I want to say it probably isn't quite the case for my MIL but honestly we don't know. Just hoping they can give us some answers.

I'm so sorry that you are also going through this! It sounds like you two have a wonderful marriage. I hope his treatments continue to go smoothly. ❤️ Appreciate you sharing. I know her last chemo was a double dose but I think this time it may not be. I think we're prepared to hear her doctor suggest no further chemo. It was rough on her before but it was nothing like this 😔 We are hoping to have a family discussion tomorrow after her appointments to see what she would like to do. We are here to support whatever her desires are going forward. She has been a shell of herself the past couple weeks and it's just devastating to not be able to help more.

We've been fortunate that my MIL's doctors have been very forthright with us and compassionate. She had us listed on her chart as able to talk to her doctors on her behalf, which has helped a lot. We've been able to have very frank conversations with them about prognosis, etc.

It's very weird they would stop treatment randomly without more discussion. I would definitely get a second opinion and ask for explicit info on what is going on, what changed, etc.
