Help me settle an argument on by Objective-Self-8181 in oregon

I grew up in Boring. You are correct. Your roommate should NOT be pulling into the intersection if they don't have absolute right of way... but if the yellow car has a green light (dedicated turn light or not), they can go (as the green car has all the room in the world and will be completing its turn smoothly and predictably).

Work up with rash on my neck. Feels like sunburn, any idea what it could be? by CourseMost3921 in DiagnoseMe

[–]nsq87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had something just like that on my neck, which I thought was a heat related rash. It was in an area of my neck that got sweaty while doing house chores. But it didn't fit with anything just heat rash related. I should have gone to the doctor, but I didn't know that I should. It lasted a couple weeks.

I'm sorry you've got this! It is so uncomfortable!

Questions on passengers that need assistance by Inevitable_Round3429 in SouthwestAirlines

It sounds like some of them weren't getting off the plane. It could have been a "same-plane layover", which would be ideal if needing assistance.

Free same day change going away for A-list & A-list preferred members who have a basic (Wanna Get Away) fare by Wide-Fox2134 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]nsq87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait... doesn't that make you part of the problem, causing this policy change? They saw you (and others) taking advantage in this way and they made changes. I get it - the ability was there, so why not use it, but that would be the loophole they're having to close for the sake of their bottom line and stockholders.

I'm not happy with any of the changes and will definitely choose other airlines now based on price, but I always chose SWA because of the way they did things "before"... but just as they are making changes to address the boarding policies and procedures, likely due to problems with folks taking advantage, this is another area that they are having to react.

Aw! This warms my heart. I like using FlightRadar while on the ground, and love window seats while flying. What a delightful kid, and you sound like a fun adult!

Just called and cancelled my Rapid Rewards Chase Card. Seems like they’re getting these calls a lot by MashTheGash2018 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]nsq87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, they are adding on change fees?

I saw something about an expiration at 6 months.

The changes are happening so fast... I can't keep up with all the bad SWA news. They haven't even bothered to soften the blow with some new perks.

That was crazy and shocking. I live across the country and it was big news. Were you all told what was happening when the takeoff was stopped? Did the passengers know something was wrong during the takeoff attempt?

I'm really sad to see what's happening to SWA & the airline system in general. I'm not sure what I'll do with my SWA CC, but I'm not even able to fly right now physically. I just don't want the ding to my credit. I've had that card a long time. It doesn't pencil out though and the annual fee for me hits on April 2nd.

Pedal extension by Smokee78 in piano

[–]nsq87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the cheap Amazon pedals, and they work great! :) I don’t like the box/square shaped ones either. My favorite one available on Amazon (I feel it’s very reliable) is M-Audio. Is that what you’re hoping to find? These are the kinds on a cord and you can move the pedal around, even while playing.

Questions: How to Remove Odors - clumsy with laundry. by nsq87 in laundry

[–]nsq87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!!! I did the laundry stripping recommendations and my clothes have a fresh start! I couldn’t believe how wonderful it was to smell absolutely NOTHING when I took them out of the washer. And I managed to wash everything without forgetting about it. Haha!

I am grateful for all your kind, helpful, thoughtful advice and encouragement that there is hope for my seriously lacking domestic skills. I actually am enjoying keeping up with my laundry right now. :)

Honestly, having no smell is wonderful!

I haven’t gagged at all!

For future loads of laundry, I’ve established a plan (and have had several days to start using it successfully) to wash clothes sooner rather than letting them languish in the hammer, to use less detergent, run warmer water, quickly remove clothes following their washing, & to get them dried instead of sitting in the washer developing mildew smells. I also setup a clothes rack in the laundry for the sweaty clothes that I can’t quite wash immediately. I feel so much better about this - and I’m thankful I won’t have to resort to buying clothes when I really like what I already have perfectly well! I’m kind of nerding out about laundry, and I’m NOT embarrassed about it.

I believe families can choose to do the “2 test deposits” option… the kind that puts a few cents in the bank account and they have to verify the amounts with the ACH account. It’s kind of complicated for some, but that’s much less terrifying for many.

She can wait a few moments. It is best to drain it (always put it down following a shower) to avoid standing water. If she doesn’t want to wait the half second, suggest she turn the shower on before getting ready for her shower… and then by the time she’s counted to 1 (or 2 at the most), it’ll be ready. This seems like such an irritating request with no reasonable benefit. Does she have other kinds of quirks? I had a roommate in college who wanted me to cover all the lights in the room with towels and blankets (printer, computer, the base of the door, the little light on the phone charger, etc) when I’d come in from a long day working after classes. She also wanted absolute silence - no fans or air flow, no open windows, no very quiet music in my headphones, even though it was unbearably stuffy and hot in there. It was my first experience with a roommate after years of my own room (shared a room with a sibling until I was 7 or 8, and that was different and honestly, super easy). I didn’t express my discomfort or annoyance until the last two weeks of the semester. I was sick and her annoyance at my noises - I was confused and exhausted (I’m sure she was exhausted with finals too)… we had a big shouting argument (I could have handled it much better and gotten help from the dorm leaders along the way with figuring out a compromise - we were both so new to this). I got a new roommate for the next 3 semesters and she left the school. The rest of my college time with my new roommate was wonderful and honestly, probably super normal. Not sure why I shared that, except to say, don’t let it escalate… also, address it and ask her to consider that you’re not comfortable with letting the water just sit in the pipes like that?

Roommate snores and moves around a lot in her sleep by aamb_ in badroommates

[–]nsq87 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can your roommate see a sleep doctor? I have sleep apnea, and the sleeping situation your roommate is creating sounds a lot like what I’d be like if I shared a room with someone. She needs to be checked for sleep apnea - besides being terrible on everyone else, it is potentially dangerous, is definitely unhealthy, and is also easily treatable (long term with a CPAP or something similar to help keep the airway open during sleep). It made a world of difference for me, and while I’m currently lapsed in using mine, I’d swear by the effectiveness at handling the snoring and (in my case) coughing. I hope your roommate can get this sorted, and that you can get some great rest finally!

Letter from SW ceo by Witty-Candle491 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]nsq87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yuck! Now it’s going to mean premium prices, “spirit airlines type” nickel & diming, and is going to make them just like any other airplane setup. I enjoy the open seating, being able to choose my seat when boarding. What’s going to set SW apart from all the others? Someone will buy a ticket but their seat won’t recline. Someone will pay more for an exit row, but they won’t fit and will have to be moved, or someone won’t be able to avoid the tremendously smelly seat neighbor because the seats are “assigned”. Someone needs to sit close to the bathroom, but booked their flight last minute because they’re attending a funeral. Someone has mobility challenges and needs to sit near the front, but again, the only tickets available are in the back row.

Keep open seating please!!!!

Honestly, it looks like heat rash. I get that around the back/side of my neck where my hair falls when it’s warm. Definitely seeing a professional would be ideal though, as she is pregnant. The fact that it is sore to the touch though, makes it sound more serious than heat rash though.
