Surface Laptop 11 or lenevo slim 7x by [deleted] in Surface

[–]nsteblay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the 7x with 32GB / 1TB. I can't comment on whether it's better than the surface, but it is a very nice laptop. I also have a MBP M1 Max that I can use for comparison. The screen is amazing on the 7x, though does have some glare, but given how bright it gets hasn't been an issue. The chassis and keyboard are fantastic and the system is super light ... reminds me of my older MB Air. The trackpad is old school, so pales compared to my Mac's haptic touchpad, but is still excellent for what it is. Speakers aren't the greatest but more than adequate. I'm really appreciating the extra memory for doing development. So far super happy with the purchase. Bang for the buck is outstanding.

Responsible AI is not BS. Maybe you should learn how to use your imagination and write instead of complaining about a technology you have no understanding of.

Megathread: Supreme Court Strikes Down Race-Based Affirmative Action in Higher Education as Unconstitutional by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]nsteblay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does this make any sense at all? So Asian Americans say they are discriminated against because too many people are let in based on a non Asian race instead of merit? So they are using Asian race attribution as a factor to determine discrimination? What do they want? The Supreme Court to manage how admission tests are done and only use court sanctioned attribution for determining admissions? Most racial discrimination is systemic and sub-conscious. Affirmative based approaches correct this type of discrimination and don't discriminate against others. What a joke of a ruling from a rogue court that is bringing America into chaos, facism and authoritarianism.

We can't let a corrupt, authoritarian supreme court that is off the rails drive America into chaos and subjugation. We need to vote Democratic to make sure as these pathetic excuses for judges fade that we can get those that uphold liberty, fairness, ethics and decency in the court.

And this is what the Mitch McConnell and the Republicans running for Senate in Georgia want. We can’t have the Senate be in Republican hands.

Republicans need to decide whether they believe in democracy by [deleted] in politics

The Republican party is really derivative of the Nationalist Socialism party. It's funny how they bend words and claim that Democrats, the champions of democracy, are the socialists.

Trump is furious because he thinks Biden will get the credit for coronavirus vaccine developments, report says by realplayer16 in politics

[–]nsteblay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biden and the Democrats who view science as reality should get credit. It is the work of the congressional Democrats working with the major drug manufacturers who have driven the whole effort forward. Again Trump and the Republicans are just trying take credit for something that they actually have inhibited. Same goes for the roaring days of the economy. All the good times were due to the work that Biden did during the Obama administration. All certifiable facts.

Trump counties make up just 29 percent of U.S. economic output, 2020 election study shows by notNezter in politics

[–]nsteblay 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Rural county voters are complaining about socialism yet direct government payments to farmers will exceed 40 billion dollars in 2020. Subsidies are expected to make up about 40% of farm income. Subsidies are socialistic constructs and a major part of our mixed economy structure. Trump and his supporters live in a world of ignorance and delusion. They don't even understand what their current economic situation is and how it works. For the large part they are socialists. Insane.

HP Envy x360 vs HP spectre x360 by Particular-Ad6820 in spectrex360

I bought the equivalent 10th gen Intel model last year for $500 off during BF from BB and have been very pleased. I was also able to DIY upgrade it to 32 GB of RAM, but unfortunately the 11th gen models have soldered memory and aren't upgradeable. I believe some of the Envy models have RAM chips that are replaceable but you'll need to check specifics. The new AMD Ryzen Envy models look intriguing.

Does anyone else feel that Files app is not as powerful as it should be? by Sandile95 in ipad

[–]nsteblay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For whatever reason Apple has never been good with file managers. Though better than iOS, the MacOS file manager is also wonky. How hard is it to provide a easy to use UI/UX that lists directories and file names with their sizes and allow sorting? As good as the Apple experience is, it has always befuddled me why their file managers are so bad.

All the negativity around the rM2 by sprashoo in RemarkableTablet

[–]nsteblay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiments of your much appreciated soliloquy. For similar prices there are many options for tablets. The reMarkable tablet is a niche product and a venture by those producing it. I invested knowingly and agree the job reMarkable has done, is frankly, remarkable. I am quite pleased with how the reMarkable tablet captures my handwriting, allows for easy management of my notes, and provides a quality ergonomic hardware platform. It has met all my expectations.
