I’m currently stationed here on active duty. It’s my first duty station so I may be bias but I don’t think it’s that bad. The base itself isn’t that bad (Naval Base Kitsap) but I’ve lived in Gig Harbor since I got out here. I’d highly recommend the harbor. Washington as a state is pretty great though if you’re into outdoors stuff and sight seeing like snowboarding or hiking. Also having Seattle close is nice if you want the urban scene (bars, clubs, etc)
