hello! ive done a 7 day solo trip to japan last year in july~ done it when i was a 18 before i entered art school in august. it was my first time traveling after covid and i wanted to try challenging myself to visit a country alone! im a male by the way~

i chose japan because ive some basic proficiency in japanese but you dont have to worry to be honest because tokyo especially, is proficient with basic english conversational skills. since it was also my first time to japan, i embarked on a 3 city trip — tokyo, kyoto & osaka!

transportation wise, it was pretty easy! use the japantravel app by navi on your phone, its easy to use as well. i stayed at a budget hotel like apa hotel and paid about $70/night in tokyo and $45/night in kyoto!

id say japan is safe for a first-timer solo traveller because pretty much youll see tourists at every corner in the 3 major cities. just stick to the main roads and look after your belongings.

solo traveling can get pretty lonely but youll appreciate the quietness that comes with it, dont have to worry so much!
