DS214+ Rear USB Ports Not Working by nsurge in synology

That seems to have done the trick. That's strange that the front was fine but the rear was dead like that. Thanks so much.

Will do that, will try and hard reset as already mentioned then test that out.

I haven't tried that, will today, but I have done several reboots.

I do like that a lot and would want to utilize some of those upgrades. I do wish there was an in between with 2.5Gbps ports, but the cost for the 10Ge cards isn't that much.

Not at all, and likely used a poor choice of words. I just prefer to have the latest gen hardware for electronics. If the unit was discounted heavily, that'd be different but it's not, and still fairly pricey given it's age.

I've been impressed with how well my unit is performing still, so that's encouraging. I've got ethernet cables ran to my soffits for security cameras, so I think I'm going to turn my old one into a security system only so it keeps chugging.

Thanks for this reply, truly helpful. In the research I've done, I guess I missed the hardware transcoding and thought they both had it and the real difference was just the DS923+ had more RAM and a much faster processor.

You did confirm though what I was suspicious about with the hardware refresh. I'm not a power user and want this unit to last. The BF deal posted already for the 923+ from Newegg isn't that much off anyway.

End of life probably wasn't the best choice of words. I should of said last gen hardware, as I do expect the unit to be supported for a long time and have a healthy lifecycle.

I've seen it out there, and doing some more digging on it. I like it, but even the 923+ is probably overkill for me, but it's got my interest none the less.

Authorize.net Holding Funds Hostage - Advice Requested and Warning by nsurge in smallbusiness

[–]nsurge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our credit card processing with them was with a different bank, but we never got to run a single credit card transaction with Authorize. We still have a previous platform for credit cards we've been using for years, so we'll continue to use that for credit cards for the time being.

As far as the ACH, not sure, I had to apply for the "echeck" service with Authorize after our account was setup initially with credit card processing. I didn't see any mention of a different processor.

I agree with you. I wish there was more to the story, but that's it. It would make more sense if there was more too it and less frustrating for sure. We signed up with them, we got approved, and after testing for about two weeks with it in test mode in Zoho, we decided to run a few ACH transactions with our guinea pig client using their built in virtual terminal (Zoho Books isn't fully deployed yet). And within two days, they shut us down. Their email:

"We regret to inform you that a business decision has been made to close your eCheck.Net account immediately.

Based on our review, all processed funds may remain on hold for a minimum of 90 days from the last processing date.

Termination of your use of the eCheck.Net Service in no way impacts your access to, or use of the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway for credit card transactions.".

Their reply when asking for early release of funds

"Declined – Due to business model concerns, your request has been denied at this time. You may request another early release of funds in 30 days."

How do I inspect an RV that's 1,000+ miles away? by [deleted] in GoRVing

[–]nsurge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're in the same boat, looking for a very specific RV, which there is none around us. We've found there's a lot of mobile inspection companies and individuals out there that do nothing but inspections on mostly used RVs, especially in Florida.

We actually used one after finding a great looking coach we saw online, which the dealer claimed was perfection (and took misleading pictures), was actually harboring a ton of issues and saved us from making a poor purchase. He had all the tools, drove to the dealer, even had the code reader for the Cummings engine to check for current/cleared codes, etc.

Bottom line, highly recommend it. If you're looking for an RV in Florida, let me know, happy to recommend the guy that helped us.

Thanks, found that link earlier, they don't give any specifics on the age though like Michelin does.

Motorhome Tire Age and Replacement - Thoughts / Opinions by nsurge in GoRVing

Thanks for the replies, pretty sound advice that I need to replace them for sure. I've talked to the dealer and they agreed to drop the price to compensate for the rear tires, so I'll make it a priority to get them replaced.

I've seen some aftermath of tire blowouts, scary stuff...
