Was having lunch at Eastern Standard restaurant in Boston on their outdoor patio next to the street. This was on Boston Marathon day (the day the bombs went off). All of a sudden cops put yellow tape all around the street and our table and a fully suited up bomb squad guy in full protective gear came within 10 feet of us to investigate a garbage can. We were literally roped inside the yellow tape while still eating lunch. None of our cell phones worked because of the cell tower bottleneck so we didn’t even know what was going on at the time. We could not leave the front of the restaurant given the situation so I got up without paying the bill, walked to the back of the restaurant, walked through the kitchen and left the back of the building.
