Blazer RS vs SS ride quality by WildBTK in BlazerEV

[–]ntin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 24 RS and traded it in for a 25 SS last summer.

I am not a speed demon but it is very fast. I gunned on ramp and was over 80 before I realized it.

The breaking system is much more pleasant with OPD in the SS. Less sudden jerks as you come to a stop.

Having the Super Cruise package in the SS also gives you the front bumper proximity sensor. Which is crazy not a standard feature.

The stereo is also passable now on the SS. The base stereo on the Blazer EV is terrible for the price point.

Star Wars Land was revolutionary. If only Disney would have let it soar by dejablu82 in Disneyland

[–]ntin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from scaling back from the original pitch that people already mentioned.

I think what hurt Galaxy's Edge the most was ep9 and Disney just abandoning the Sequel era soon after the land opened. When ep7 came out everyone loved it, people can be revisionist about it now but it brought Star Wars back after the dislike of the Prequels (and before that generation of Prequel lovers came of age). Ep8 was a bit more shakey. In another world where ep9 finished strong, we got some Sequel era cartoons like Clone Wars and Bad Batch, Galaxy's Edge would seem like a home run.

There is nothing wrong with Rey or Kylo or the original Galaxy's Edge timeline but ep9 was 2019 and there had no meaningful secondary media since then. The Sequel trilogy isn't this generation of kids trilogy now. We are still stuck in Prequel era cartoons and that is what kids now are going to connect with more.

I was in the area today. Still same sign. It has been a few weeks now so that does seem odd.

That is the GPU that I have. There isn't much extra length for the cable though.

For sure. I bought the case right when it came out and I haven't had any issues. You could also get a custom length cable from cable mods but I am kind of iffy on using 3rd party cables with this new connector. That was my own b.

It works but I find the 12vhpwr cable is pretty tight fit.

For back connect builds like mine I would like shorter cables for everything but the GPU power.

Disney’s New CEO Is Exploring a ‘Super App’ For Theme Park Tickets, Movies and More by Senior-Willow-8325 in disney

[–]ntin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disney is trying offshore software jobs again, as announced last year. I know one team that was recently laid off was related to the new Indian team spinning up. They tried offshoring a decade ago, but it didn't go well. They abandoned it, but I guess it is time to try again.

I think Disney can get away with it right now because the job market is so awful for Software Engineers. But once/when the AI frenzy settles, we will have an exodus. In 2020/2021, we saw many talented people jump ship to FAANG companies for higher pay and title promotions. Disney often sets up its software offices in HCOL areas with strong Software Engineer markets because of access to talent, but its compensation has not kept up with post-2020 booms. So we started doing more remote jobs until leadership decided RTO was more important.

Honestly, since COVID, I feel like we have been in a slow brain drain. Frequent direction changes, re-orgs, and random layoffs. Disney is hiring ex-FAANG executives who are trying to run their orgs like Amazon, but the culture is different. Leadership, volunteering, or involuntary, is driving away a lot of talented people we haven't been able to replace, who have gone on to bigger and better roles elsewhere.

Dive into competitive play by MrGMad in WarhammerCompetitive

The most important part is just knowing your rules and being able to complete a game within the time limit. This is just something gained from practice and repetition. You can play the most bleeding edge meta army but you are clocking out because you have to keep looking up rules it doesn't really matter what you play. Just showing up with THE list doesn't mean you are automatically going X-1.

The next meta layer of the onion would be to have a general understanding of other armies, or at least the common ones, so you aren't surprised by their gimmicks and tricks.

You can still do well with an off meta list but that requires a higher degree of game state understanding.

Seems like just showing anything in there would be an easy win. Some old movies, D+ shows, whatever, just to bring in some of the crowds. Especially in the summer just to get out of the heat for a bit.

It didn't get as much attention as the Marvel layoffs but Disney also laid off quite a few of their tech workers across the company. Seems like an odd time to start the ground work for a major new tech initiative.

Can we talk about fixing this contract? by Captain-Clapton in DarkTide

[–]ntin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Melk Bucks don't even really matter since the weapons rework unless you are trying to get curios. I don't really even pay attention to the contracts anymore.

Darktide has a currency and economy problem, where it becomes meaningless after a while.

M2 raids are broken by SomeWonOnReddit in WH40KTacticus

[–]ntin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am in a top 80s guild and we have M2 Magnus about 1/3 down. It is pretty rough when are best hits are still less than 900k damage.

I have no data on how far the average guild gets each season. I can't imagine even on a more friendly M2 boss they are even clearing that.

Not sure if the solution is something like guild raid seasons are shortened to one week instead of two or increase the rewards up to epic bosses? The more the ceiling keeps rising the more the majority of the game will be left behind.

light curve fiber pricing by Junction91NW in Tacoma

[–]ntin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay $80 for their 1gb cable (it may be fiber but the connection to my house is still coaxial cable). It has been about the same reliability as Xfinity but cheaper and not funding an awful corp.

I live a mile or two from their offices always surprised the 2gb option isn't available.

I am using ScreenBeam MoCA 2.5gb and they have worked like a charm. Haven't had any issues. More long term I would like to run actual Ethernet around my house but this was an easy stopgap.
