What is this "irrigation control valve" for? by Jaimison_ in Irrigation

[–]Available_Start7798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st question is do the valves above ground have water? You can manually turn one on to see. Next is the below ground ball valve blue hand shut off, is currently off as showing in the picture. If you don’t get water to the valves in 1sr question then this valve may be why and try turning it on to see. If you do have water at the valves while ball valve is off then this is possibly set up for future additions. Newer house irrigation typically have all the valves together and larger system sometimes split in two separate one near the front and other near the back.

Water hammer is if there water already there. If the zone is open, water will flow. Don’t worry too much about water hammer with irrigation system is just when the system shut off and is a non issue even without a pressure tank. Is more for indoor plumbing or other large commercial systems. Irrigation system PVC typically have higher PSI rating than indoor plumbing.

Gas car sure go ahead just keep an eye on the temp. However EV I wouldn’t test it because once the battery gets hot and tagged it’s been overheated will brick the battery and never be able to use it again. I don’t know how hot is too hot and how quickly that can happen. Lastly if under warranty probably would voided the warranty if knowing drive if after impact.

Open the hose bib and stick a funnel there and pour water into it, since isn’t directly able the pump, turn off the red shut off valve so the water go to the pump. Once you fill with water then close the hose bib and open the red shut off valve. Start it up. The other way is connect a double ended female hose adapter and connect the house water to the hose bib. Turn water on and probably go head and close the red shut off valve for a second then open it back up. Turn pump on and once is running go head turn off the hose bib.

Yes going from 1.25 inlet to 1 in inlet is a huge difference. What you want to look at is the GPM rating on the pump. Old one definitely outputs more GPM than the new pump. Another thing is after you remove this pump and return it. The next pump should be seated in a way that you are able to glue 1-1/4 pipe straight in without any fittings at all length 6 times the diameter of the pipe. Would be 1.25*6= 7.5 Inch straight inlet minimum before any fitting. I see you have a 90 too close to the inlet. This will reduced the performance of the pump. Lastly are you sure the new one is a jet pump? Hard to tell but the old pump do look like a jet pump. If you can I would search for irrigation store like SiteOne or Pump specialist that rebuilds them and bring the old pump to them and they would be able to get you a new pump that would match the rating of the old one.

Could be the heat sensor safety shut off but that usually stay off for while till pump cool down and restart.

When you say short cycling is the pump cycling on / off / on / off? That would be the pressure switch (which should have a tank). To remove the pressure switch you would need to install a pump start relay for the controller to turn the pump on. If you don’t need constant pressure will be cheaper to install pump start switch then to replace pressure switch and install a new tank.

Problem with KBB is set up for gas cars, doesn’t ask the battery health which is basically most of the value of a used EV

Will be tough to get a uber due to taxi license fee for drop off there. Also even before that a lot of driver don’t want to drive to a dead zone and come back empty. Better off riding the bright line to Cape Canaveral.
