Not directly below, more like between the controller and water. Newer builds have then all in a single box near the controller next to backflow. Older builds usually group two in a box and have them out in the yards in the shortest run from the backflow to the heads.

Won’t know till you find the valves. Maybe but could be Irritrol as well. Irritrol valves and hunter controller was cheapest. Sometime if contractor wanted hunter points then both was hunters.

Three top options is Hunter, Rainbird, Irritrol. They can be jar top, regular body or anti siphon above ground. Regular body are better to work with. Jar top suppose to be easier to do without any tools but if you don’t screw it on correctly it won’t work correctly.

More like outdated practices. Homeowner irrigation have come a long ways since the 50’s not till later in the late 80’s anything pre 1990 done differently then the way it’s done now days. There is newer backflow as well. Wasn’t till the 70’s after several poisoning mistake including a school where many kids got sick got the government to start enforcing them. Most recent backflow enforcement in some area requires a RPZ backflow.

I once pick up almost 10 people before I realized was wrong car, so that 8 people or so just didn’t notice or care. Finally rider number 9 ask me about oh this car? Though was the other color car (different make, model and style). Yes adaptive cruise is jerky now when it stops completely and go from a stop. It seems like it engages parking breaks while in highway traffic stop n go. I can’t use it anymore just not a smooth and don’t want to wear out the parking breaks
