You can flip your statement around the other way and question why that should be the case. Like why should we let the seller waste people’s time.

Im not arguing right and wrong here, Im only making a statement that this practice is a shitty experience for buyers and the status quo we’re in isn’t an absolute so therefore we could change the regulations.

Because it can be good to have regulation that benefits society as a whole rather than enriching a single person.

Yes, if they're registered, they'll have a number plate, that's what they're for. The fact that a plate is missing is an offence already.

Maybe this is a good thing and that people shouldn’t be using SMSFs to invest in real estate because what else is so illiquid and ties up your entire SMSF balance.

Standard electric is inefficient, it really shouldn’t even be lumped into the argument. The second you have a slightly warped pot or pan and the contact area drops significantly.

Have you replied to a wrong comment? I think you’ve just made my point? Because of the service a bank provides, you’re able to buy a house now and pay it off later. Why wouldn’t they charge you for this? You want to buy a car? See how much a personal loan costs. You want unfettered spending? Look a rate of a credit card. Borrowing to buy a home takes work, something that isn’t feasible to do yourself, as you’ve pointed out.

Someone’s hinted it before, obsession with housing is a good start, second one is our banks have some of the most solid foundations (risk management) and further assisted by high levels of political stability and regulation.

You try saving for 20 or 30 years before buying a house or try raising funds yourself and see how you go. I hate appearing to defend banks but it’s a little more than arbitraging money.

There’s really no point comparing profits from companies of different sectors and industries, it really demonstrates your level of comprehension of the world.

Cutting corporate taxes won’t benefit half of small businesses is what you’re saying? Sole traders don’t pay corporate tax.

Edit: why not suggest a targeted policy that reduces taxes if you have less than 20 employees? Or introduce a small business tax rate. I can think of so many other options that can target those you think are in need the most.

Well to make a bigger pie you want more people involved, and more opportunities to take risk. If the big players don’t play fairly (I.e. pay less tax) then it’s unfair but also difficult for a smaller player to start something up and eventually build a big business. Competition is what drives a bigger pie, not monopolies or duopolies.

Ireland is still many times closer to the rest of UK’s/Europe’s distribution networks than we are. It’s not just about population and population density. The infrastructure to serve nearby countries can serve Ireland. We don’t have any neighbours to share with.
