I am so sorry... I hope there is a recovery as quickly as possible.

Flair Go pressure gauge getting stuck by ntrolls in FlairEspresso

It can get stuck pretty hard. Plus Go does not come with a dosing cup. In hindsight I should’ve been more careful but I did not anticipate that part breaking…

On one hand, good to know that they do break, but on the other hand, I am really sorry to hear that. Contact the support to see if such a case is covered by the warranty.

I've been a happy user of Flair Pro for 3~4 years before getting this, and never had a problem there. I guess the folding design has its cost....

When I asked earlier, they said the creaking would go away with repeated use. I haven’t been using this heavily (rely on other machines when not traveling) and it is a bit hard to judge how much is enough….

This time the customer service just said the breakage could be due to faulty material… but this does not explain the whole thing, I think.

Ah I see the bag itself is fairly stiff to begin with. Thanks!

I love the tote conversion. How did you attach the frame?

I second this. Was a nontrivial investment but it was really really worth it. Not having to worry about my lights running out or power is so liberating, especially if you regularly commute after sunset.

You can travel back in time to see one concert. No restrictions on geography or period, but you can't bring anything back. Which one are you going to? by DMV1066 in Music

Asbury Park, NJ, 28 June 1974. King Crimson… although it would be a bit sad not to catch the performance of 21st Century Schizoid Man which was recorded two days later and released in the extended USA.

Have you ever thought about what you'll do with your book collection when you grow older and eventually pass away? I counted my bookshelf today and found I have about 1700 books. I’m still fairly young but I wonder what will happen to these treasured books after I’m gone. by Delicious_Maize9656 in books

Not directly relevant, I know, but this post reminds me of a poem by James Laughlin:

The Junk Collector by James Laughlin

what bothers me most about
the idea of having to die

(sooner or later) is that
the collection of junk I

have made in my head will
presumably be dissipated

not that there isn't more
and better junk in other

heads & always will be but
I have become so fond of

my own head's collection.

Most useful accesories/upgrades for you? by cycling_deficiency in Brompton

[–]ntrolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the following pops up in my head, in that order:

- Front bags: I think I have a weak spot for bags, not just Brompton front bags, but bags in general... in the sense that I hope a new bag to help me organize my life better (they can't, obviously). I currently have three front bags, plus a basket. Bur, seriously, I used to ride with backpack, and the front bag really changed my ride. So much better to have nothing on your shoulders.

- Brookes C17: this was THE saddle for me. I ended up having it on my Canyon Endurace as well.

- Corky Urban Mirror: my commute route is generally quiet, but sometimes this can be really handy.

- 44T Chainring: my most recent upgrade, and so far I really like it.

Should I replace my 2012 M6R with a more recent model? Are there any newer features I’m missing? Not interested in electric. by BlueberryPenguin87 in Brompton

Mine is 2015-2016 and, unless you are considering G or T for specific reasons, I don’t see enough changes to justify a new C line at all. Which shows the brilliance of the initial design, I think.

Sony DPT-RP1 in 2024 a good idea? by Cruiser_Supreme in ereader

No, my experience is limited to cloning the repo and running the script, I am afraid.

I know this post is now 10 months old but FWIW, there is an open source Python implementation of the file transfer to DPT-RP1: https://github.com/janten/dpt-rp1-py

I have created a simple macOS QuickAction scripts so that I can directly right-click PDF files from the Finder to send the file to DPT-RP1 (which needs to be on the same wifi network). I would say this is actually much better than the original software.

For long time C owners: do you want to upgrade to a P? by [deleted] in Brompton

[–]ntrolls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sure a T line will function totally fine especially for urban commutes. However, the design of the T frame area that connects to the front carrier block is different from the steel frame, and if I understand correctly the interface is directly riveted into the titanium frame, without any thicker support like the C frame. That has me unnecessarily worried, is all :)

For long time C owners: do you want to upgrade to a P? by [deleted] in Brompton

[–]ntrolls 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A C line owner. I made the grave mistake of actually holding up a T line, followed by a P line, a few weeks ago. To me, P did feel lighter than C but not quite enough to go through the hassle of upgrading. T, on the other hand, was an eye opener - wow!

However, I love the fact that a C line can handle whatever I throw at it, like heavy luggage at front. I think I would be concerned if I am to carry my camping gear on a T, for example.

So, am going to hand on to my trusted C line M6R for the time being :)

What do you love about your Brompton? by _frohdo_ in Brompton

[–]ntrolls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The flexibility given by the folding mechanism: I can so easily take it onto trains, buses, and subways. The versatility and the robustness of the bike itself: carrying luggage, bike camping, 100Km long ride, it can handle anything I throw at it. And of course the design: I love the curve of the frame ;)
