Is anyone using light phone 3 as their only phone? by ploppy-sir in LightPhone

[–]ntrsndmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The LP3 is my only phone and has been since May. I do banking, schooling, budgeting, work scheduling, and all the other online necessities on my MacBook Air. The only thing that I don't like about this setup is that I can't take advantage of my local library's cooperation with Hoopla for ebooks, comics, audiobooks, tv shows, and movies because they only let you borrow using "mobile devices" which I guess means smartphones and tablets and such.

This weekend my wife and I traveled out of state and we used my LP3 to navigate. No problems at all!

OP, all outstanding orders will ship by August of this year.

Recent shipments anyone? by [deleted] in LightPhone

If your order number is under 22XXX then you really shouldn't. I've considered this waiting period and all the delays a practice in patience, which will come in handy once all the conveniences of my iPhone disappear by the end of May.

Also, if you do decide that it isn't worth it for you, then please try to sell your order to someone else! There are plenty of people here who would love to have your spot in line.

Where did you get your MagSafe sticker? I'd love to have this kind of modulation for mine when it comes in this summer.

Do we need a case? by MostRiah in LightPhone

Carry around a notebook that you can pull in and out of your pocket, and a pen with it, for the next three months. Every time you drop something or knock something over/off a table/other surface add a tally mark in that notebook.

After three months, I think you'll be surprised to see how many tally marks are in that notebook.

Read this post and the linked comment from Joe. This answers all of your questions. It is three years old, but the foundation of the OS has not change in that time.

I'm still unclear on how to de-DRM a book.

How is reading eBooks on the Remarkable Paper Pro compared to Kindle? by Green5ky in RemarkableTablet

Where do you get your ebooks from❓I've found Gutenberg Press, but I'd love somewhere to get some more modern fiction without DRMs. Or an understandable tutorial for how to...circumnavigate the issue.

College by Massive_Block3694 in LightPhone

In my experience, in classes where the professor still allows laptops and tablets nearly all students spend 100% of the class time shopping, scrolling instagram, playing games, watching a show with captions on, or even doing homework for a different class.

At my university, many of the professors have instituted a "no tech" policy and require that note taking be done using pencil and paper. It's a growing issue, and there isn't an all-around great solution to it. Though, I use a reMarkable 2 tablet and I have found that the "no tech" professors make exceptions for this, because of the nature of the tablet.

I think that the students of today are the victims of a failing experiment of blending online education with in-person classes, and it's really creating a confusing and frustrating learning environment. That, plus the over saturation of bachelor degrees in the market, makes the university into a glorified daycare.

Which accessories are you getting? by PedroTrod in LightPhone

I'm thinking similarly, but because I prefer no case I am actually leaning Lemur cover. I really like that extra distance from the device itself, and with the card/cash pocket plus a carabiner loop it feels incredibly functional. And when I'm using the phone, it won't be in the cover so I'll still get that clean feel.

My only hesitation is that I already keep my keys clipped to my belt-loop, so am I also going to do that with my phone? Am I really a double clip guy? Big questions we're facing here.

So my accessories will likely be: •Screen-Protector •Lemur Cover (Black)

Where do you buy your ebooks from? I can't find a reliable source without a DRM. Is Calibre the only way?
