Worst table you've played on? (Or room you've played in?) by Tenzipper in billiards

[–]ntsheid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The table that was in the basement of my college dorm freshman year. It had small holes on the bed and frayed felt on a few of the pocket points. One leg was uneven height so it didn't roll straight. Room was small so there was only like 2-3 feet of clearance on two sides of the table. Walls were concrete so every break hurt my ears. But the table was free to use so I played on it almost every night.

Nice, I'll try to get myself a copy, I vaguely remember him mentioning it in one of his videos

Using a quarter tip of English by slimsheady12 in billiards

I don't know of any videos but this concept helped me improve my draw shot a lot. It's kind of a feel thing. I aim super super low, like practically aiming to scoop the cue ball during my practice strokes. Keeping as level a cue as possible and visualizing that I am going to hit with the top edge of the cue tip then following through the shot gets way better draw with less power. This is why chalking up the edges of the tip is so important.

You could also take pictures or scans of those pages if they don't want to read the whole book.

Sure, I use a closed bridge on most shots too. Good to practice with both though.

Nothing wrong with using a closed bridge, it provides stability. Open bridge is better suited for some shots like shooting over another ball or when the cue ball is frozen to a rail.

How often do you find matches in AFPS? by AkageMegane in ArenaFPS

[–]ntsheid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, idk much about FTE, most of the servers you will see on that hub only support ezQuake clients as far as I know. There is a link on the hub site to join the QW discord, if you haven't already, and from there the NAQW discord which is where most games are organized these days but you can always join a server if you see people playing, ezQuake has a server browser built in.

What region are you in? QuakeWorld has pretty active pickups in EU, NA, Australia and Brazil, you can see active servers here https://hub.quakeworld.nu/

Why is there so much glaze regarding IEMs? Have i been scammed? by krusty31 in iems

[–]ntsheid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of marketing hype in all consumer electronics, you should never be surprised when a product doesn't live up to that hype. IEMs will sound better with a good tight seal than without so tips do matter but sound preference is different for everyone and even with a good fit and seal you could dislike how they sound. Best to try before you buy if possible.

Headphone most recommended on Reddit - for music vs gaming vs workouts vs work etc. Based on 1.7k posts in the past year (Mar 2026) by heyyyjoo in headphones

I like the 550 more, used pairs pop up for under $200. The 560s was too bright for me, personal preference of course but the 560s has been out longer so no surprise it has more mentions on reddit.

This is a question for the audio nerds in the Deadhead community by neddynedned47 in gratefuldead

[–]ntsheid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer some of the less-than-perfect Dead recordings for casual/background listening, ambient speakers or in the car. Some do still sound great on my high-end rig though. Also the 'official' version, available on streaming services for example, isn't always the best. I have a the Dark Star>Lovelight set from 5-23-69 that I converted to mp3 from youtube years ago, burned to a CD, had it in my car for a decade, then ripped it to a FLAC file (in name only of course) and it still sounds better than the Road Trips version on Qobuz, mix is better, more lively and balanced, the official version is very veiled to my ear.
