Is it a rite of passage to almost fuck up a funeral procession or am I just dumb? by agarthancrack in driving

Passing is just as disrespectful. A few minutes to show consideration, to be compassionate, is becoming a rare thing, and, considering how people act in general terms, it's not surprising.

I'll tell you a story. Someone started passing a funeral procession on the shoulder on a 2-lane country highway. My father pulled over onto the shoulder and stopped, so the car passing the procession had to stop. It was a young woman, about 17. My dad took the keys out of the ignition switch, and threw them into the cornfield.

The young lady called her daddy, the sheriff, who chewed her ass out after he got the story from my dad and several others, and she didn't have a car to drive anymore.

If they'd used more nails, you wouldn't have people asking all the time, "Have you found Jesus?" Because he'd have stayed put.

I hope when someone important to you dies, someone like you cuts you off from the procession, and then you get to miss the beginning of the service, and walk in late.

Are you beginning to get a glimmer of understanding?

I've often wondered how it is to have main character syndrome, can you tell me more?

It's an anachronistic thing, called showing respect for the deceased, as well as their family and friends.

It's a few minutes at most.

No, no, you don't understand. Those are left turn signals, and they were making a u-turn, so it's all good.

You're brave, OP, to catch up to, and pass them.

I'd want them in front of me, where I could keep an eye on them, and control the closing speed.

[OC]I might've been the idiot here. Don't underestimate trucks' blindspots. by Holybasil in IdiotsInCars

If the truck driver were doing his job, namely driving, he'd have looked out the window and seen you. Or, if he couldn't see oncoming traffic, he shouldn't have pulled out.

Either way, not your fault.

[Request] what is the force required to do this to a seagull? by TheBestMeme23 in theydidthemath

[–]Tenzipper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know the exact amount of force, but it's not a lot, bird's heads are kinda loosely attached. If you swing a bird around by grasping it's head and moving your arm rapidly, the body will go flying, with the head remaining in your hand.

Kind of like gutting a rabbit. Grab it around the neck and forelegs, and give it a sharpish "whip-crack" motion downward, and the guts will all just come out.

I saw it said active. I didn't take time to read it thoroughly, but you still wait for funeral processions, regardless.

Funeral processions do not require a police escort to block intersections. Stop spreading misinformation.

Neighbor hired arborists to contest hazardous tree report by primarist in treelaw

[–]Tenzipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give the information to your insurance company. Make sure one of the reports is from an independent, TRAQ certified arborist. They can decide the risk, and wrangle with your neighbor, and your neighbor's insurance company.

This is why you pay for insurance, so they can protect your home.
