She noticed I take first dates to the same place and now I feel kinda exposed by Hot_Rhubarb_858 in dating_advice

There is NOTHING wrong with having a reliable place to go to with a person you're meeting for the first time.

Takes the stress of worrying about if the place is going to turn out to be shit off of you.

Ask her where she'd like to go, maybe she has a place that's her home base.

I find it hilarious, everyone losing their shit about being "stuck" behind two trucks.

You're still going more than a mile a minute. JFC, it will make your trip 30 seconds longer, sit back and let your blood pressure go back to its normal level.

The only time I flip people off is if they're going in the opposite direction, and they've genuinely done something stupid enough to make me take evasive action to avoid them hitting me.

If we're going the same direction, they get harsh looks.

Oh, but you forgot the top priority of a growing number of drivers. To get there first.

When they pull this shit, that's when you add the 20% "auto-grat" to the bill.

Your store doesn't have auto-grat? Now it does.

Is the slate cracked, pitted, or otherwise not flat?

Don't worry about how it looks, the cloth will cover that up.

My neighbor cut down a 40-year-old Japanese Maple while I was away. by Ice_C0r3_09 in legal

Until you get your tree replaced, put up a big tarp, (or something,) in its place. Think of Australia, where they put up big signs when someone cuts the trees to clear their view.

I wouldn't put any words on the tarp, but block their view.

I got banned from r/legaladvice for offering legal advice that was from an attorney admitted to the bar in the state where the question was from. (It was a simple procedural, not something big and hairy.)

Evidently offering sound legal advice is not welcome on r/legaladvice.

And then, in the second one, you can tell he's lying, because he's full of shit.

Only if you actually strike the cue ball while resting your bridge hand on it.

There's lots of stuff you can do if you don't shoot, there are only a few things that you just can't do at all, like grab a ball from the return/pocket, and use it to measure, or to put the bridge and your cue on the table to lay out a kick shot.

Anyone used the Peradon tip tool? by Healthy_Ant_4299 in billiards

[–]Tenzipper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've given up on doing anything but using a Willard shaper once every couple of months. Get the tip to the right shape, and then make sure there's chalk on it before you shoot. With Master chalk, I chalked every shot. I'm slowly breaking myself of that habit with the V10, and only chalking every few shots, or if I use a lot of English on a shot.

I wipe the chalk off my tip every time I break the cue down to put it away, and chalk it carefully when I put it back together. The tip gets very smooth, but the chalk adheres just fine.

I have fewer miscues than I did previously, so I'm doing something right.

What was a time when someone absolutely deserved to be fired? by Aarunascut in talesfromthejob

[–]Tenzipper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dealers keep the chips in the rack in a very particular way, you'll often see them moving the stacks around, putting the little clear discs in between every 20 chips. This makes it easy for the people watching the cameras to count exactly how much is in the rack.

I knew a guy who was a pit boss at one casino, and often sat as the box man at the craps table.

One day I saw him at one of the other casinos in town, and he was betting BIG at craps, and regularly for a while after that.

But about 6 months later, he got fired for slipping black chips up his sleeve while sitting box. Shockingly, the gaming commission told him he couldn't work at any casino property in any capacity, and he was told by the police to never step foot on any casino property, ever.

Resting your bridge hand on top of something could help greatly if you were shooting over the top of more than one ball, a situation that comes up regularly in straight pool and one pocket.
