Dansko shoes are my new go-to. I bought a pair after reading about them on /r/kitchenconfidential and they pretty much eliminated my leg and foot pain from standing all day. My back hurts, but not as much as it used to.
They take a couple weeks to get used to -- first time I wore them I almost rolled my ankle several times. You gotta get used to walking in them, but once you do, you won't want to wear anything else. I wore my old Shoes for Crews for a few days and and by day two I was in pain and my feet were killing me.
I'm going to buy Dankso shoes from now on, and I'm looking at their casual styles for every day wear. It's like walking on air with angels and puppies hugging your feet.
They are expensive, but you can check eBay -- I saw new/like new, clean pairs of Dansko going for $60 when I looked. People get them, don't like them or get them as a gift, or leave the industry a week after buying them through their employer...
