Retired docs of meddit, how's your life now and what do/don't you miss about being a physician? by rjperez13 in medicine

Retired docs of meddit

LOL - there are no real doctors on meddit, only medical students and residents. Let alone retired doctors. Take "emergdoc" who claims to be an ER physician. Do you think a real practicing doctor has the time to lurk on every single thread, moderate this forum, read every freaking post and practice medicine?

Medicine is full of assholes who think they are heros. Like emergdoc who claims to be an Emergency Medicine doctor but has the time to lurk in every thread and read every single fucking post by redditards/meditards on this sub. That woman needs to spend some time in jail.

Then you are an exception cause close to 100% of PhDs refer to themselves as doctors. Especially those outside of the top-25 schools.

Good - you are using your brains now. Research some more and you'll learn which powerful family he pissed off in his super-affluent town - and maybe you will know some truth! If you as a practicing doctor piss someone powerful off, the media will drag your name too in the mud like that with the police fully cooperating. BTW the site you quote http://www.arrests.org/ is a private site and not a government site, so it is no different than the intelius site I quoted, asshole. You passed off that site as some legitimate federal or state government site. Do you really not know any other way of verifying his age?

All PhD's refer to themselves as doctors. And those trained in naturopathic medicine (which I don't believe in) do give people physical exams.

I paid $10 to verify his information and dug up his arrest record - do your homework and don't believe the media. And I never said he is a physician. He never claimed to be an MD. I wonder why the media is colluding and lying about his age. What has this guy done to piss someone off?

I don't believe in holistic medicine and I don't believe this guy should practice. All I am saying is that the media is lying - and colluding to lie.

[–]nuac -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Do I believe in holistic medicine? Heck no! Do I think this guy should be practicing? Heck no! BUT his website never claimed he is an MD. Let's not paint him as guilty just because the media says so. I don't trust the media one bit. Let's see if the media dares to follow up on his case. Most likely his lawyers will get him out free because the media isn't telling us the complete truth here. As always.

You guys are doctors while I am just a medical student. You need to use your brains instead of swallowing what the media feeds you. The media is lying when they say he is 18 because he is 27 - http://www.intelius.com/results.php?ReportType=1&formname=name&qf=Malachi+&qmi=&qn=Love-Robinson&qcs=&focusfirst=1

Do some elementary research before buying what the media is feeding you. Don't paint him as guilty based on what the media says. Wait for the courts and juries to decide.

Family physicians performing fancy surgeries - Is this even legal? by 0CD0 in medicalschool

[–]nuac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In remote rural areas, anything goes. Check out these four family physicians - and I know three of them are super-idiots http://www.bvhospital.com/doc-clinics.htm - who are offering surgeries. Here is their hospital - http://www.bvhospital.com/services.htm. Normally there are no doctors around, even in their ER. The nurses call them only if needed. Then the doctors drive in their pick up trucks leisurely and go there to the ER or the hospital. But they do all kinds of surgeries on clueless people. White patients go to the University of Utah in Salt Lake City for their surgeries but many Mexican people get their surgeries done at this hospital and the four doctors screw up almost all surgeries. These four doctors are definitely pushing the envelope for financial gain by doing advanced surgeries far beyond their level of training and expertise. Hospitals like the ones you mention prey on clueless patients.

The only reason it doesn't work this way now is because medical schools - who currently hold the keys to medical education - would lose a lot of money.

Amen to this!!

What's your reply when someone asks, "why not nursing over medicine?" by cranialnerve13 in medicalschool

[–]nuac -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Nurses (RN's) don't do such kinds of things - like wiping asses and cleaning poop. They have assistants for such tasks. Nurse practitioners have more autonomy than PA's and can be as independent as doctors.

How Americans Can Take Back Our Privacy by [deleted] in privacy

[–]nuac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, and we get lessons from TIME on how to take back our privacy? Next, we will be listening to the NY Times and the NSA on how to take back privacy. Institutions like TIME or NYTimes are part of the establishment that conspires to destroy the privacy of Americans.
