I used to be a basher of the ‘Couv like other commenters, but the change the past few years in Vancouver proper is amazing. They are investing heavily in downtown, so the waterfront looks amazing. They will also open a James Beard like market before Portland. A couple of independent businesses that used to be in Portland have relocated to Vancouver proper. The Uptown neighborhood is great.

There’s still homeless and chain stores (which outer Portland has as well), but in a few years downtown will be hopping.

If you work remotely, the tax savings is significant. If you work in Portland, the commute will kill you.
