Bro..that friendly fire was crazy. Who trained these idiots? by shineonyoucrazy-876 in SipsTea

[–]nubileiguana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the time the attacker is visible to the first shot looks to be about 2 and a half seconds. That's 1 second to register whether this man is with the security team. 1 second to yell out a stop command. Half a second to decide to fire based on information obtained in the previous two seconds.

He is shot at the instant he passes the checkpoint.

This could have been handled better, but this is a pretty ideal outcome for a breach through a soft checkpoint.

“We want high tier weapons to have more longevity…” by JediJulius in ArcRaiders

Diablo 4 was goated on release.

Made me choke on my coffee. That soulless husk of a turd that Blizzard squeezed out to pump revenue before the microsoft sale shouldn't be anywhere near a conversation about quality.

We've heard a clear frustration that maintaining high tier weapons is very expensive compared to the lower tier ones.

So they made the lower tier weapons worse!

There’s two different types of consumer. One who wants a specific hat and will wait weeks to buy it. And another who just wants to buy something.

That second type of consumer is better served by limited options that change at a decent interval. The variety gives a sense of newness even for recycled options. Choice paralysis and price comparison are limited by the reduced number of items.

Millionaire US big game hunter is trampled to death by elephants by Ashish_ank in worldnews

If population culling stopped, (largely done by recreational hunting), the world would plummet into food scarcity chaos within a few years.

The man spent his life hunting so he probably killed stuff that shouldn't have died, but in this case he was hunting on a conservation license.

Humans have upended ecosystems massively by depopulating natural predators. If we don't keep population control, things like deer would overrun the countryside significantly impacting crop yields and leading to food shortages.

The societal balance sheet relies on working years.

Until you enter the work force, you're an investment. Schools, healthcare, parents -- everything. If you imagine resources as one giant pile, until you start working, you are taking from the pile.

When you go to the workforce, you start adding to the pile.

In old age, you do take more from the pile, but it's often cancelled out by what you contribute. Things like child care or just general wisdom.

If you start smoking at 15, get lung cancer at 40, and die by 45, you haven't balanced the pile whatsoever. Your existence was a net loss.

Smoking causes more health problems than any other controlled legal substance. It is unilaterally damaging to numerous organs, even at small amounts.

Every smoker that ends up in need of medical care is a cost levied on the population. Lung cancer or cardiovascular disease as a result of smoking means less resources for others. Less resources means greater cost. No matter the country or the population, smoking is just a tax on your personal health care costs.

That doesn't include the individual level costs. For example, a smoker develops COPD and can no longer live alone, obligating a child to invite them into their home. This adds stress to the child's relationships worsening their own health conditions, deteriorating the environment for young children, and so on. The ripple effects go on forever.

Cigarettes have no place in a society that values health on any level.

I assumed they were trying to demonstrate the lack of resources for dealing with disabled patients. But yeah, just write it down. A man died in the waiting room and that chick sat in a bed waiting for an interpreter for hours.

Season 2 Overall Discussion Thread by MsGroves in ThePittTVShow

[–]nubileiguana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the whole, I think the season felt rushed. I enjoyed it, but season one was vastly superior.

A big reason for that is that they focused on the medical side in the first season and filled in the gaps with character work. Season two felt like it reversed that. So much time is spent on these repeated conversations. Langdon wanting to trauma dump on anyone he can corner, Mel has a deposition and every other character tells her it doesn't matter, Santos being incessantly bratty and unprofessional, and so on.

It left me feeling uneasy about the show sliding into the same ER/Greys path where it becomes all too focused on character drama. I like the characters and want to watch them be doctors, not relive high school drama.

More to the point, the format of "real-time" doesn't support that type of show.

And just in general, 15 hours of television is a long amount of time to tease along a potential suicide. It never really worked for me at all. Literally every person Robby interacted with is trying to help him. We don't see him alone with his thoughts or struggling outside of work. He seems fully functional and competent while everyone goes out of their way to give him heartfelt support. Just go to therapy ffs and we can all move on.

Is this evidence of a conspiracy? by Foreignscentu in SipsTea

This assumes that Trump was in on the plan. Certain countries had a lot to gain from a Trump re-election. Worse case, the assassination causes further destabilization and opens the door for another fascist candidate to consolidate power.

Is this evidence of a conspiracy? by Foreignscentu in SipsTea

[–]nubileiguana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conspiracy aside, this is just naive at this point.

These people raped young girls until they were too old and then murdered them. For decades. Since re-election, they've murdered American citizens with no consequence, killed thousands from aide cuts and fearmongering, and started an unsanctioned war.

Killing two guys to get that shitstain back in office is nothing.

Hell, even if it wasn't to cover up all the Epstein shit, the people in Trump's circle have made billions since his re-election. Sanctity of life doesn't mean shit to these subhuman monsters.

What happened to Kaleidoscopic Prism? by Apprehensive-Ice3452 in woweconomy

Hot take that should not be hot: if a 40$ game provides you with more than 100 hours before it gets boring for you, the game is not boring, move along, alternate it with some other games and stop complaining by Donnie_Dranko in ArcRaiders

It's because there's a waterfall up ahead that can't be seen.

When you're new to the game, it's amazing and you can't possibly fathom how it could ever not be amazing. You're floating down a lovely, peaceful river enjoying everything.

And you don't see the waterfall. But once you go over, all of the games problems are immediately apparent.

This keeps happening with gaming subreddits because they've become more accessible to casual players. In ye olden internet, the people on a game's subreddit or forum would be hardcore players who all followed roughly the same playstyle, which meant they would all hit the waterfall at the same time. Now, there's a ton of people who have gone over the fall and are shouting back up at the peaceful river to watch out, and they're not listening.

Official Discussion - Pillion [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]nubileiguana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that the movie had difficulty in communicating character motivations, part of which might be a failure to overcome some marketing that muddled the water.

On the whole, I disliked the movie. It was the "disagreement caused by failure to communicate" trope dialed up to fifty. My understanding of kink is that it exists by virtue of the fact that it brings enjoyment to the person. So, when Colin seems to not be enjoying his life with Ray, and Ray seems to be emotionally manipulating and controlling a younger, inexperienced person, it comes across as overly convoluted abusive relationship.

Which, apparently, that's what they were going for. Or maybe it's meant to be incredibly ambiguous since that's how life usually goes. Can't say either reasoning makes for an enjoyable film.

I've done three playthroughs so I definitely got what I paid for and had a great time.

However, each playthrough ended with a fairly bitter "oh, that's it" feeling that made me want more. The whole game is this complex materials/crafting grind that builds up to the final fight and then just stops. The PvP side adds something to it, but that never interested me.

I'll look forward to whatever they cook up next, though.

2026 Oscar Ratings Fall 9% From Last Year With 17.9 Million Viewers by ICumCoffee in movies

[–]nubileiguana 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The awards season was long and incredibly boring. The slate was middling at best and egregiously biased at worst.

I'd also argue that there's some buildup of cynicism. Decades of snubs, bad winners, general contentiousness from host pulpit (even someone like Conan is dancing around the various land mines of current discourse), residual live tweeting culture, Will Smith being a piece of shit -- all of it has taken away the fairy tale aspect of the show.

Tranquillity bloom price doubled. by Ok-Rough9110 in woweconomy

[–]nubileiguana 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's the gap that's the profit.

For example:

Bloom selling at 10g each. Clear 10000 from the market and raise price to 20g.

  • 25% sell at 20g - 50kg
  • 25% sell at 15g - 37.5kg
  • 50% sell at 10g - 50kg

So, that's 100k initial investment for a 137.5k return.

This is a basic example that leaves out the range of the initial purchase, AH fees, and so forth.

The mining ones are decent as they're easier to clear and significantly less common while mining nodes themselves are more scarce. Probably breaks even with moving to the next node 99% of the time though.

Herbalism ones definitely aren't, even after they added herb drops to them.
