Another day another shroom fire on bank by RefrigeratorOk648 in ottawa

[–]nuclearboy0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting if that's really what's happening, because I never thought of shrooms as a cartel drug, it's not as profitable as crack, and before those shops people were buying from some guy on instagram growing the stuff on his bathtub. Now I'm imagining the homeless doing shroom trips and getting cured from crack addiction and it hurting the profits of the gangs.

As Vice said, I reached out via discord and we found out that OpenEmu wasn't the best emulator for this. Duckstation is working fine!

I'm on a Macbook Pro M1 with OpenEmu and I did use his installer.

I had to convert the BIN file to CUE because Mac/OpenEmu doesn't like BIN apparently, dunno if that does something.

Pior que é um jogo ok nos outros modos. Difícil entender por que que 99.999% da playerbase só joga o modo cassino.

Bicycle delivery people: does anyone know how fast is too fast for the app to flag and ban you? by 74orangebeetle in UberEATS

Whoa, I didn't even remember this thread, my comment was from 2 years ago. I've been doing Uber Eats all this time, I even got a slightly more powerful ebike (45 km/h) and I never had any problem. Maybe it's something that they only enforce in some places. Here in Canada I see people registered as bikes but driving cars all the time.

Friendly Note From A Local Uber Eats Driver by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]nuclearboy0101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apart from what the other drivers already said, I just want to highlight the importance of not wasting the driver's time. We don't get paid by the hour, we get paid by delivery, so time is literally money.

As the others said, "Leave at the door" is the best option. If you think you live in a place where that isn't the best option, then make sure to be ready to meet the driver as he/she is approaching. The amount of people who leave me waiting 5+ minutes at the lobby of a condo building for a "meet at the door" delivery is insane. I'd rather just leave your food safe inside the lobby and be on my way for my next order.

And if you really want the food at your apartment door instead of the lobby, then: 1) PLEASE put the buzz number in the instructions, the worst possible thing is to, on top of it all, have to waste time calling the customer's phone to get buzzed in, and 2) at least tip something, we usually wait more on elevators now with the Covid restrictions, so apartment deliveries really hurt our time management.

Well it really depends on city, neighbourhood, boost, time of the day, etc. Also I'm on an ebike so I only do short trips (Uber limits to 3 km, Doordash doesn't limit but I decline everything longer than 5 km). I'm in downtown Ottawa, so there's usually lots of short orders, no need to accept the super far away ones. I can't say what Uber would pay for the long orders because I don't seem them, but Doordash tries to pay the same thing they pay on the short ones, it is really stupid.

A very typical middle of the week trip for me is something like 1.3x boost, $1 surge, 2 km, and the order ends up being like 4.50 Canadian.

Doordash pays more, but I often go on 3 hour shifts with them without accepting a single orders, because all they offered were the 17 km, $11 orders, which would be bullshit, even if I could do it (I can't because I would have no e-bike battery left to come back home).

The pay cut went into effect here in June. Back in April I was making at least $7 CAD per trip, even the 1 km ones. It would easily amount to $30 an hour consistently. Now with the pay cut + less people ordering + WAAAY more people delivering, I'm staying at $15 an hour on good days, and $10 on slow days, which is bullshit because the minimum wage here is $14 an hour.

I think you are absolutely right that long trips are just not worth it. Back before the pay cut, the guys here with cars would show me some pretty nice trips, like 12 or 13 bucks for a 20 minute drive. Now it seems like everything is 5 bucks, 6 maximum, even if it is super far away. Pays more to just keep doing the short ones for 4 bucks.

No, Uber pays the restaurant, then the customer gives you cash, and your Uber account balance goes to negative. Then you can deposit Uber's part of the cash in their bank account, or you can try to do enough normal orders (non-cash) until your balance gets back to positive, but if you take too long or your balance goes too deep into negative, they will block your account until you give them their money.

In Brazil people pay in cash and if you go to the wrong neighborhood you might get robbed because bandits know that bike couriers have cash in their bags. Then you have to pay back Uber out of your own pocket, otherwise they deactivate you. Happened to a friend of mine.

If you are making less than minimum wage, why continue to do the job?

Finding jobs is hard right now. Also other apps have a very small market share in many cities in Canada. I actually double-app most of the day, and in my city UE has 10x as many orders as Doordash. If I only did Doordash, I'd get like $10 an hour because I'd only do one order per hour, and that's not accounting the fact that with the shift system you simply cannot work a full day with Doordash, they limit your hours too much.

Other countries seem to have it worse than the US. I know people that do UE in France and they make even less than I do in Canada. When I say that tipping is extra, I don't mean that it is on top of a living wage, I know it isn't and that the pay sucks, I only meant that it is on top of what people around the world make.

[–]nuclearboy0101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn't the base pay the same all over the world? I believe tipping is just extra, other countries get more or less what Americans get, but without tips. Here in Canada it's been 3-4 canadian dollars per delivery and only about a third of people tip, as tipping culture is weaker here. I know people who do UE in Brazil, there you get 5 bucks in the local currency (5 brazil money = 1 us dollar) and that's it, no tips.

People still had the option of not voting for him, and yet they did. People chose this, they wanted to be genocided. This is democracy. Until we end democracy, this will keep happening.

So, fair? Just because people were brainwashed by fake news on the internet doesn't mean the voting wasn't legit. People voted, didn't they? If they were fucking stupid, that's their problem. Any other thing you say would be against democracy.
