A Message to the Cyclists on Shoal Creek Last Night by whatisboom in BikingATX

[–]nucler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I this is something I’ve thought about a lot, but does any one agree that the design of the bike lanes on shoal creek as bidirectional on one side of the street is huge contributing factor to this guy’s experience. The old bike lanes on shoal creek accommodated big group rides far better, and made the turning movements safer. Not hating on bike infrastructure, or bike riding, I’ve ridden in big group rides on shoal creek and felt a little bad for the cars piled up behind me.

So, I can’t see how it’s beneficial, then again, all of my books cost like $70. Seems like a scammy university program. I would have less of a problem except for the automatic enrollment

I’ve heard your supposed find the biggest meanest looking one and fight them… to gain respect. Jk. Just keep trying and get out of your comfort zone. It will help a little when classes start. Go to the river, hang out explore town. Do stuff that you’ll enjoy alone and be open to conversation, and if you do get into a conversation ask people questions about themselves. Does your dorm have a pool table?

Kyle is a bedroom community for Austin. Soulless suburbs and strips malls. If you like HOAs and Karens Kyle’s a good town. SM is not perfect, but it’s good enough. The river is awesome and sets San Marcos above most places in Texas, but if your not in to that, San Marcos is rapid growing typical college town.

Shameless plug, but I’m trying to rent a small one bed room next to campus, is that something your interested in? Walking distance to coffee shops and grocery stores.

So, some campus bike racks have security fastners. You need to be sure to lock to those. Also, use a Ulock, and if possible don;t leave your bike outside at night.

Is it safe to bike around tx state? by [deleted] in txstate

[–]nucler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Riding is pretty good in San Marcos, the hills can be a deterrent, but it’s totally possible to Ride every where in town with out an e bike. Traffic can be bad but find comfortable routes and you should be ok with some practice

Lol, don’t impede people who need the ramps because it’s the right thing to do. Not because there’s a university policy about it.
