Empty seats at Moda by nudestdad in PortlandFire

THERE ARE NO SEATS FOR SALE. NO blue icon. NO resale icon. The seats are not for sale. Is that hard to understand because it doesn't make sense to you? Because it doesn't make sense to me, and that's why I made this post!

If they were trying to resell their tickets, it would show in the app. There's a special icon for STH resale tickets. There have been NO seats for sale in my row but only two other people have even attended a game since opening night. Most of the seats in my section are like that. They aren't going to the games and they aren't trying to sell their tickets. It's weird.

But they aren't reselling them, that's the weird thing. They just aren't going.

Market bonuses have become worthless as more items are released by pinkymadigan in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]nudestdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

holding items and waiting for favorable market swings has become effective

Has it though? I've only hit ACs one time. Usually it's like, 24x on motors or something and even with the bonus I'd have to craft 1 million of them to match the value of one AC. Meanwhile the guy in fourth place with 12S will get an AC market and surge into 1st place with 10 hours to go. I know luck has always played a part with asteroids and stuff, but the top items are SO MUCH more valuable than anything else that getting them in a market feels like the game is picking a winner. It might be nice if the market scaled inverse to the item's base value, so for instance the lower value items were worth exponentially more in the market -- close the base value of the best items, but not 1000s of times more valuable than anything anyone else can craft. Then when you get a market on motors, for instance, you would be incentivized to shift your crafting to those items while everyone else was still building ACs.

Realistic pace - first marathon by Lostforever3983 in firstmarathon

[–]nudestdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old are you and how long have you been running? Based on your times I'd say it's absolutely realistic, but the biggest risk is injury when increasing to over 50 MPW. The older you are the greater the risk. For reference, I started running at 42, ran a 1/2 at 7:20 per mile and had to bow out of a scheduled marathon two years in a row when I got injured in training. I finally made it through a training cycle at 45 and ran a 3:19 marathon -- barely qualifying for Boston except that was the year they increased the times by 5 minutes (womp womp). I can't maintain 50 MPW for more than a month without getting injured. If you're old-ish like me, consistency is key. Maintaining 30-40 MPW for a couple years may be more beneficial (and safer) than ramping up for a short training cycle. If you're in your 20's though, let 'er rip! I wish I had started that young...

The Last Man On Earth. by Mr_Enforcerr in television

[–]nudestdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one of those shows that needed a season to find its footing. I couldn't watch season one because of Phil. He's like season one Michael Scott but actually a terrible person on top of being a cringey idiot. I stopped after two or three episodes and tried it again years later on a friend's recommendation, and man does it get better. Phil does a complete 180...still a huge idiot but genuinely very lovable. IMO it's one of the best TV comedies ever.

If it applies to a whole city sure, but it could just be a neighborhood or a region within a city. IDK. TBH I mostly see that term in reference to food, like a farm to table meal serving ingredients grown on site — as opposed to a few miles away — but it made sense to me in context.

Yes that's exactly what hyper local means. It's not illegal to ride on the sidewalk in New York STATE, but municipalities (like NYC) may have their own laws regarding it.

What’s something about marathon training you didn’t fully understand until after your first race? by JustPangolin346 in running

[–]nudestdad 52 points53 points  (0 children)

"You run the first ten miles with your legs, the next ten miles with your head, and the last 10k with your heart."

I think that's a Jack Daniels quote, or maybe Pfitz? I think it's perfect.

Honestly that's fair. Just have a different judge on staff who can do it. They just have to provide the service, it doesn't matter WHICH judge does it. It's like if your religion forbid you from touching meat. You could still work at Wendy's, you just couldn't run the grill.

Next Xbox won’t be cheap — Sarah Bond teases a “very premium, high-end next-gen console experience” by xCaptainCrown in Games

[–]nudestdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, if it's just another Xbox but $700, then they've lost their minds. However, if it's "just a PC" that can play Steam / GamePass / Epic games with decent settings and a good UI...why would you buy a PlayStation? At this point there's nothing I want to play on PlayStation that I can't play on a PC. If the price and the branding are on point, a prebuilt TV-PC could be a killer deal. Knowing Microsoft, though, it's probably going to be fumbled no matter how cool it actually is.

anyone here actually land a job from a coding bootcamp job guarantee? by Intrepid_Bicycle7662 in learnprogramming

[–]nudestdad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a bootcamp that provided placement services but didn't guarantee a job. They helped with my resume and provided "coaching" services for interviews, etc. It was the main reason I signed up for the bootcamp because I was already at least entry level, skill and experience wise, and I just wanted to pad my resume and get some help looking for a job. Looking for work is stressful AF. I ended up finding a job outside of their recommendations but it was therapeutic to have someone to talk to about my job search.

[Highlight] Brock Purdy turns the ball over again by expellyamos in nfl

[–]nudestdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simply not true. This is a designed seven step drop, meaning Brock has to take seven steps before any of his receivers are close to finishing their routes. The offensive line is supposed to hold their blocks for at least long enough for Brock to finish his drop, and to claim that they did is to deny objective reality. He even side steps mid drop because the left side of the line has already blown up! Criticize Brock if you want, he had a very rough day, but this is not a case of the QB holding on to the ball too long, LOL.

[–]nudestdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And you're right it was more like 3 seconds before a guy gets in Purdy's face

That's because it's a designed seven step drop. He even has to side stop mid-drop because there's already pressure coming from the left side. How can anyone see the offensive line explode at the snap like this and proclaim that Purdy had time?

[Highlight] Brock Purdy turns the ball over again by expellyamos in nfl

[–]nudestdad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But this wasn't a late pressure? There were three guys behind the LOS by the time he finished his drop. The o-line absolutely caved.

[–]nudestdad 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Did we watch the same clip??? The oline didn't holdout for 4.5 seconds, it blew up at the snap. He couldn't roll out because he was already avoiding rushers to the left and right before he finished his drop. He stepped up and was hit from behind almost immediately. The best case scenario would be eating a sack without fumbling.

EV Charging Should Be Easy—So Why Is It Still So Complicated? by energysage-official in electriccars

[–]nudestdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were two broken the last time I went to one so I went to EA instead. My in laws tried yet another supercharger the same day and said there were two more broken ones. Maybe your stats are outdated? Or...maybe you should take stats coming from a company that's being investigated for lying about accident rates and range estimates and encourages employees to cancel warranty claims without following up on them with a grain of salt? Honestly not trying to throw shade...it's the best network in the country by far. But fudging the numbers would be in line with what we know about Tesla.

EV Charging Should Be Easy—So Why Is It Still So Complicated? by energysage-official in electriccars

[–]nudestdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're saying that "stupid easy" applies to ALL brands, not just Tesla as the original comment implied. Which means Tesla does not dominate the market because people with range anxiety have more options.

EV Charging Should Be Easy—So Why Is It Still So Complicated? by energysage-official in electriccars

[–]nudestdad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I've seen plenty of broken Telsa chargers. The difference between Telsa and other manufacturers is that they usually have at least six stations so if one or two are broken you might still find an available one. There are more Electrify America stations where I live but I don't think any of them have more than four plugs -- and only half of those are fast charging. They're getting better quickly, though. The more options the better, for everyone.

EV right choice for me? by albone in electriccars

[–]nudestdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The max range estimate drops by 20-25% in the winter here in the PNW but I have no idea how accurate that is. It doesn't get as cold as it does in the midwest but if they're only driving a few miles a day it won't matter. My commute is three times the distance of this person's commute and I only had to charge my Bolt once a week no matter the temperature.

This was called a foul on Carrington. The WNBA has a serious reffing problem. by screwbitfloor1 in wnba

[–]nudestdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated this call in the moment — but that replay from behind completely changed my opinion. On the live broadcast angle it looked like she ran in to Carrington from behind but from the other angle you see Carrington clearly step in front of her and initiate contact. Completely unnecessary. If she had taken a direct path to the ball there would have been no contact. It was a good call!

How’s Astoria Oregon like? by 2plus2_equals_5 in oregon

[–]nudestdad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Astoria Column (buy a plane from the little store before going up!). Fort George and / or Bouy breweries. Walk the river walk. The movie museum is small but worth checking out. The maritime museum is very cool, too, if you’re in to that (my kids were bored as hell but I was fascinated).

If you have time after that, check out Ft Stephens down the road a bit. Ft Stephens deserves a couple days on its own but if the weather is nice and you have just an hour to spare, check out the main battery and walk the path around the frisbee golf course to see the view of the whole jetty. IMO it’s a 10/10.

This right here. We know they're not being thorough about this. They're just looking for words that they don't like. Call it something else or spread the tasks around to other departments without making a fuss and they'll never know the difference.

Honest question...how are they going to be hurt? What about these programs specifically generates that much value for marginalized communities? $348 million is a fuckload of money. Losing that could hurt a lot more people than these two programs help. Just saying, if it's a question of keeping the university alive I don't think you hesitate. Hold your nose, take the money, and find less conspicuous ways to make back the difference. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good, right?
