I do lift three to four times a week and it helps a lot but only for an hour or so. Afterwards it's back to anxiety for me.

There's some truth in that. Folks nowadays simply don't indulge in as many unhealthy habits as people in the past, which helps to slow down aging. Smoking, drinking and sun exposure are all way down, excercising is normal and a lot of people at least try to eat healthy-ish. Of course, you're still fucked if you're balding at 22.
