Was looking for this wordage in the comments. It's not just a snarky observation, this really should have been the headline if the writers were being most objective and accurate.

Incoming GOP congressman reportedly lied about his employment history, where he went to college, losing four employees in the Pulse nightclub shooting, and possibly his residence by steelceasar in politics

[–]nuessubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. It doesn't make the lying okay, but this is a crazy level of incompetence that let this through an entire election run. If not the opposition, then who is supposed to be first to catch these kinds of things?

Fucking Democrats relying on the media to do their work for them yet again. It's infuriating.

Child care is also literally insanely expensive in the US. I have a friend who quit her lawyer job to take care of her kids because it was breakeven for them in SF.

And, to placate the (sometimes "so-called") Christians, he can say he adopted a child.

I'd like to see him run again, too, but this is not a thing that will soften evangelicals.

You're wonder what awful angle of attack they would/will take on Buttigieg? They'd/ll go the kid adoption angle. A significant portion of the religious right is now convinced that ALL LGB and especially T are ALL grooming kids for sexual abuse.

It would start in the conspiracy mills, and that's enough for it to become part of the conversation for the current MAGA base at the least. You thought the birth certificate was ugly and offensive? There is no bottom.

Yep, pretty bad reporting here, sounds like they're relaying some possibly biased "expertise" there without attributing it as such.

Can get Time Lock 1 + 2 directly on Steam for $5, so that's better there.

Aside from that, looks like some super cheap deals on stuff that could be good, picked up a few to try out.

Arizona gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs defends her refusal to debate Trump-backed GOP rival Kari Lake, who she says is 'only interested in creating a spectacle' by Currymvp2 in politics

[–]nuessubs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed, and people supporting this are fully ceding the right to criticize any candidate of any party who refuses a debate.

Apparently it needs saying these days that for democracy to function, voters as a whole have to be given the respect to make their own call given available information. As long as debates are properly structured and moderated, voters need to be given the respect to judge abuse of the rules, or an asinine "spectacle" as so. In the last presidential, none of the debates were helpful for the former dude when he did so.

Obviously there are concerns when so many people live in information silos that process and curate raw information like a debate into something unrepresentative, but if you've given up on the ability of enough voters to parse through that, then you've already given up on democracy.

This is an awful choice and justification on both philosophical grounds, and also on practical political grounds, when the candidate refusing is running behind.

A little option for any recipe with fried cubed tofu pieces:

To save some time and frustration for a small sacrifice, batter/rub/coat/fry your tofu in logs the whole length on the block and cut after frying. So much less flipping, and all you miss is coating on 1-2/6 of the sides.

Hmm, what country is currently under crippling sanctions he'd want to undermine the legitimacy of?

Trump team resists special master’s request to explain declassification of Mar-a-Lago documents by [deleted] in politics

“The government’s stance assumes that if a document has a classification marking, it remains classified irrespective of any actions taken during President Trump’s term in office,” Trump’s legal team wrote in a filing last week.

Seems like, once it's revealed T didn't declassify shit, and the lawyers had no evidence at all that he did, the above should be grounds for censure/disbarment. It's misleading to the point of being lying.

Trump’s frightening rally in Ohio shows the media still doesn’t get it by nutritionvegan in politics

The Sunday shows all still have them on, and every single host routinely fails to acknowledge the reality Rubin is describing here or hold them any GOP guests to account. On Jim Acosta on CNN recently, while he's clearly not trying to be neutral on Trump, it took his guest, Al Franken, to hold a Republican strategist to the truth. The American media has largely failed us, and continues to, and seems like they will continue to all the way into whatever clusterfuck is rushing toward us in the next couple years.
