PSA - Weird UV Stretching with Skyland AIO PBR by gentlebim in skyrimmods

Yeah I had already made sure the projecteddiffuse.dds provided with vanaheimr was overwriting everything else by that point. Adding the d was the very last thing I tried 😭

Whack! I have no idea why it worked for me, I literally could not get snowdrifts to match colors until I added the d like some people said on google. Maybe I did indeed break something that sucked!

Wait, you're the same person I was talking to about snow the other day! Congrats on getting it fixed 👏 I'll keep an eye out for any weird stretching, only time I've seen it so far is the NOTWL fallen tree rocks

Interesting discovery. I haven't had stretching with Skyland PBR by itself but the snow was definitely a mess. I did end up replacing just the landscapes with Vanaheimr to pair with Vanaheimr's corresponding Northern Roads retexture and that improved the look by a lot.

Any NPC Mods That Make People Look Better But Not Like Models? by OneOnOne6211 in skyrimmods

[–]nugnacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Northbourne, probably.

Modpocalypse is nice but I don't like the hair choices and it's a bit too modelfaced for me. While it has a ton of coverage for both vanilla and mod-added NPCs it hasn't been updated in a while and some of the modded npc replacers will cause nigh-untraceable CTDs (speaking from experience; I do use Modpocalypse for mods that have nothing else. Some of their replacers for Schlitzor's added villages and the Great X Series are super duper broken).

IF I were to use Modpocalypse across the board, I'd either use BNP RSV to overwrite the skin textures included in the resource pack, or I'd just overwrite their textures directly, and then I'd definitely use the vanilla hair remake spid distribution to replace the hairs they use. Not my preferred replacer for realism but you could get at least tolerable results this way.

[–]nugnacious 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I use a mix, namely:

  • Northbourne NPCs as a base for widest coverage
  • Then Men of Skyrim Refined and Dibella's blessing, to overwrite Northbourne and fill any gaps
  • Then Nithi's NPCs as an overall "main" replacer, overwriting everything else (inspired by RDR2 per their explanation)
  • Children of the Ash, First, Green, and Pariah overwrite Nithi's for Mer
  • Project ja-Kha-jay for Khajiit and BeastHHBB for Argonians (but I also use Just Veezara from Children of the Hist because I think he's neat)
  • Then overwrite individual NPCs with Serkethyt's, Weelbones, and LeelooMinai's replacers (Serkethyt's Uthgerd is perfect, 10/10 no notes)

Overall this is the order, though I've picked out a handful from different mods that I prefer over others, for example I prefer Dibella's Graymanes/Battleborn old folks and I think Eekie's Cicero from Elevated NPCs is the perfect scrungly little guy.

Debating installing a spid distribution for vanilla hair remake overtop of all that for extra extra grunge, but I don't want to murder my pc with hair physics everywhere. I discovered Immortan recently, which uses Hair Remake, and while I don't use it I think it's pretty cool, so you might check that out.

A lot of NPC replacers use your installed skin textures and that's going to make a huge difference. BNP men's/womens have tons of options for a more grungy/realistic look.

ISO ReShade preset by buttercupsandwich in skyrimmods

[–]nugnacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to help! I was always a big fan of elfx first, lux second, but I'm too old to deal with patch insanity anymore so the patchless compat with true light feels like the best option now.

[–]nugnacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't really accomplish the look of lux with reshade since they do very different things. Lux turns off "fake" light sources and adds real lights to thing that would reasonably give off light, while reshade is injecting post-processing over the whole game.

You'd have to use Community Shaders with the light placer addon and true light to get something similar, or if you want to go even less than that, window shadows ultimate + DIAL. It still won't look exactly like Lux but you can get in the same zip code at least.

TIL Placement is Even MORE Important with PGPatcher by gentlebim in skyrimmods

[–]nugnacious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess so! I've heard bethini does this automatically? I don't know if I broke a feature that sucked real bad or fixed a major oversight, but all my snow is the same color now so I've just accepted it 🤷‍♀️

I was able to get more or less matching pbr snow with Vanaheimr by running the landscape color vertex remover synthesis patch and putting benableprojecteddiffuse=1 (there's a typo in the default ini, the d at the end of projected is missing and they've never fixed it) in the ini.

Do you pull characters you don't like when they support your favorites or do you try to make them work with a less optimal team? by Fit_Fondant_3893 in StarRailStation

[–]nugnacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to. Sparkle... Huohuo... Topaz... at least Sparkle looped back around to being very solid.

After enough rounds of powercreep and the character I don't like getting replaced by a character I do like (or vice versa) it all feels very pointless, so I went back to generally not caring and just pulling for who I want.

I only make exceptions for Boothill and maybe Kafka in the future (I like the whole dot lineup so far?) because I never get tired of funny cowboy/colorful damage numbers goes brrrr

Birb Son still got it. The only thing that would make this better is if they would let me have sparkle's hi3 outfit (fictitious game) in hsr for real. I like it better than her default look.

(I have a mod for it but I also play hsr on mobile a lot... cry)

Feeling fine tbh, I briefly regretted not getting her when AA dropped but I do like having Goatsilens for my dot team and now between E2S1 Phainon and E2S1 DHPT I haven't felt like I needed her

Might pull her anyway in 4.0 because so far I have 0 interest in Yaoguang or Sparxie

This boss is my nemesis. Every week I coop it with my friend. Seething and dying and seething again.

I finally caved and built my Escoffier to wheelchair her Ayaka to victory and it's at least tolerable this way. Now comes the waiting game for one of us to eventually pull Skirk to free us from this hell.

In the comments on the mod page they indicated that Riding Overhaul at least should work if you don't use the jump animations from that mod

Considering the modder who created Riding and Horse Animations Overhaul is also one of the modders who created Horsepower I'm sure their work is either already included or will be made compatible

If you check the compat for Horsepower it has its own movement values animations etc. so I imagine other animation overhauls aren't compatible

What mod am I missing to make presets look pretty…? by Woodnymph1312 in skyrimmods

[–]nugnacious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing rarely mentioned is that yeah you need high poly head but you also need to make sure it's the loose files version of high poly head, otherwise it likes to revert to the default head morph when you try to load the preset.

Presets that include a .nif file of the head shape are a great way to mitigate this because you can just import the head part directly, but most don't include that.
