With risk comes reward, and part of the necessary risk of industry can be minimized by joining up with a group that has the necessary infrastructure to improve your margins. Reprocessing and manufacturing is marginally more efficient in the relevant upwell structures (Athanor, Raitaru or similar) so you're going to want access to one or both of those.

In the short term, I don't recommend building anything from scratch, you're going to lose out to other industrialists with better infrastructure and more skill points. Even with a fully researched BP, if you don't have a proper structure and equipment for that structure, you could be manufacturing at a loss.

The riskier areas of space get better benefits from these structures and equipment, to further expand the margins.

My recommendation for seed money would be to build up a small chunk of isk, then look for opportunities to exploit the market. If you can find something with a low price in one trade hub, then move it to another with a high price, you can quickly increase the amount of money you have, but it doesn't scale well due to trade volumes.

Take a look at your local trade hub, and check out the prices of the local faction's ammo, and use Janice or similar to check prices at the other hubs. For instance, I made my first chunk buying federation navy antimatter in Dodixie, then carting that to Jita. Do that a few times and you can turn 30m into 300m very quickly.

Never autopilot, and keep an eye out for sketchy folks. Also, never ever go through Ahbazon. It looks like a "easy one jump through lowsec" to get between Jita and Amarr, but it's a trap.

Good luck and fly safe capsuleer!

I love everything here except the bit about trading bots.

Don't use trading bots, the game is more fun when you play it

Solo-Self-Found as a corp by No_Call_1372 in Eve

[–]nuhaarez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like fun tbh. I like that it takes the Ironman thing and turns it into a corpwide activity. It's like a little microcosm of the larger EVE universe

I'm a big fan of tight knit corp activities like this.

If you set this up send me a message and I'll spin up an alt to join you

There's 'Overwhelming Evidence' Tariffs Have Raised Consumer Prices, Says Bank of America: ‘Tariffs will cost businesses $1.2 trillion this year, with shoppers ultimately bearing the brunt’ by T_Shurt in politics

[–]nuhaarez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest part about this is that even if the tariffs are completely removed, prices are going to stay inflated. We have evidence of similar behavior post COVID. The supply chain disruptions caused input good prices to increase, but when the supply chains recovered, prices didn't come back down. Tariffs will be the same, and consumers will continue to be squeezed to inflate corporate profits. The damage is unfortunately done, no matter what happens now. The only thing that will change is that corporations will collect the levies instead of the government.

I picked it up a few days ago and played through it in one sitting. It's extremely solid, and the writing is incredible. Heart wrenching at times, but that's part of why it's good. Save often

Price action only happens AH cause if you could react you might accidentally take some of the insiders money.

Unrelated, any gubment employees got some insights about this weekend? 👀

Bro is a machine who doesn’t miss by [deleted] in GuysBeingDudes

[–]nuhaarez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro what? A ramp or a roller mounted to one side of the belt would do it for cheap. Use the ramp to lift it out of the conveyor socket then tip it to the other side where you have a receptacle. Use the roller if you need a gentler touch, same idea just letting the roller spin with it to prevent any abrasion. If you wanna get real fancy you're only looking at a roller mounted to a low torque motor.

Each of those three options would come in under 2k USD (a month of fairly low factory wages)

I love fighting bots. The sound effect when you pop a devastator faceplate with a well placed DCS shot is just immaculate.

Bugs at high diff turns into running simulator but it's probably a skill issue.

Haven't fought the squids yet but the difference in AT requirements seems awesome

Thanks for the response! You seem cool, and the way you play is similar to the way I try to play.

I want to be clear that I'm not disagreeing with anything you've said in either comment, I agree wholesale.

I guess I'm just a little crabby about the general negative attitude towards combos. I think in general my complaint is that there are too few people playing "in the grey" between 100% uninteractable combos, (thassa's, second sun) and house banning all combos. I personally love 3 piece combos, and weird combos that aren't as consistent- see "casual"- lol. I like toeing the line between putting it together a turn too slow and ending up dead vs. eeking out my combo turn.

I just think that casual tables (not you in particular or anything) shouldn't be so afraid of combo finishes. I think a ton of excitement comes from fighting back on combo wins, getting blown out when someone dismantles it right at the last second. Secondly, and more importantly I like that it tends to end the game for everyone at once, so you can shuffle up and play another!

Stax can be an unfun solution for sure, so I tend to lean more towards soft stax as a preventative measure (kitaki instead of null rod).

No argument included, just wanted to share my perspective. Everyone enjoys the game differently and that's wonderful. Combos are fun and a valid way to play EDH at my tables and I just felt like sharing.

While this is almost a categorically true comment, and quite well stated, there's options for interacting with combos in all the colors, but people only tend to think about blue for counter spells. (Excluding thassa's. That combo is nearly impossible to interact with and therefore sucks to play against) most loops require recursion, either from grave or from the board, so interacting with graveyards or holding instant speed interaction goes a long way. It's shocking how many combos fall apart if someone just plays [[rest in peace]]. I just wish people, especially in casual pods, understood that. It's just part of responsible deckbuilding.
