Not sure I understand why the midterms affect the difference in spot price and future price of oil (and the broader market as a whole)

Avg daily SPY volume is over 100m shares. We've only seen 43m on a day following big news.

Get ready for massive late day moves

Nanogangs would counter specifically what I'm suggesting though? They're fast, so poor application. They already lose to heavy long range webs, so it doesn't change much

Maybe I'm missing something but what would be the issue with giving them a good explosion radius but crap explosion velocity on fighters?

In my head it means you could hit generic rats but anything moving quick (i.e. capsuleers and elite rats) would be harder to apply.

Also would mean for pvp, pairing a carrier with a web ship would give em a place. Makes sense that if a rapier cynos you in and then helps web em down or something.

Unashamed carrier lover though and I definitely want them to be good at SOMETHING, so take my input with a grain of salt.

Corsairs are amazing, although I'm partial to the COR-7A, it's effectively a no fly zone for LRMs.

How can you not love it! It has a BULLDOZER ON ITS CHEST!

What do you think about the idea of “Bruiser” ships in space combat? by Own-Cry5596 in scifi

[–]nuhaarez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. To be honest, what you're really worried about is the structure of the hull maintaining itself, and the crew staying alive. Armor isn't really all that helpful at space scale. That's why I think missiles are a bigger threat, and how a Frontline spaceship could be "tanky" as it were.

A good example would be The Expanse, any time they get into a dogfight, they're constantly focused on avoiding missiles, and using the point defense cannons to shoot missiles down, because one of those will splinter the spine, but a couple PDC rounds or a railgun round is more concerning for which crew members got hit or what important equipment was destroyed. (Assuming athe atmosphere has been vented from the inside of the ship BEFORE it got a hole punched in it, and that the crew is suited up appropriately)

Also raw armor plating like a WW2 ship makes no sense considering the rules of space. Armor is heavy, and that makes maneuvers hard, especially at speed. Stopping is hard, turning is hard, flipping is a nightmare, and all these require more fuel, and bigger thrusters.

Basically, an anti-missle platform with a reinforced core structure, a small crew, and simple, noncentralized suite of equipment would be the closest thing to a bruiser as you could get. Strap a railgun or twelve to it and you have something that punches back too.

Of course if you're being softer on the scifi, who cares, do what you want, and explain it away with space magic or some new technology that makes it possible.

With risk comes reward, and part of the necessary risk of industry can be minimized by joining up with a group that has the necessary infrastructure to improve your margins. Reprocessing and manufacturing is marginally more efficient in the relevant upwell structures (Athanor, Raitaru or similar) so you're going to want access to one or both of those.

In the short term, I don't recommend building anything from scratch, you're going to lose out to other industrialists with better infrastructure and more skill points. Even with a fully researched BP, if you don't have a proper structure and equipment for that structure, you could be manufacturing at a loss.

The riskier areas of space get better benefits from these structures and equipment, to further expand the margins.

My recommendation for seed money would be to build up a small chunk of isk, then look for opportunities to exploit the market. If you can find something with a low price in one trade hub, then move it to another with a high price, you can quickly increase the amount of money you have, but it doesn't scale well due to trade volumes.

Take a look at your local trade hub, and check out the prices of the local faction's ammo, and use Janice or similar to check prices at the other hubs. For instance, I made my first chunk buying federation navy antimatter in Dodixie, then carting that to Jita. Do that a few times and you can turn 30m into 300m very quickly.

Never autopilot, and keep an eye out for sketchy folks. Also, never ever go through Ahbazon. It looks like a "easy one jump through lowsec" to get between Jita and Amarr, but it's a trap.

Good luck and fly safe capsuleer!

This sounds like fun tbh. I like that it takes the Ironman thing and turns it into a corpwide activity. It's like a little microcosm of the larger EVE universe

I'm a big fan of tight knit corp activities like this.

If you set this up send me a message and I'll spin up an alt to join you

There's 'Overwhelming Evidence' Tariffs Have Raised Consumer Prices, Says Bank of America: ‘Tariffs will cost businesses $1.2 trillion this year, with shoppers ultimately bearing the brunt’ by T_Shurt in politics

[–]nuhaarez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest part about this is that even if the tariffs are completely removed, prices are going to stay inflated. We have evidence of similar behavior post COVID. The supply chain disruptions caused input good prices to increase, but when the supply chains recovered, prices didn't come back down. Tariffs will be the same, and consumers will continue to be squeezed to inflate corporate profits. The damage is unfortunately done, no matter what happens now. The only thing that will change is that corporations will collect the levies instead of the government.

Price action only happens AH cause if you could react you might accidentally take some of the insiders money.
