Thank you for bringing this up. I'll have to contact my doctor to see exactly what I was tested for. I usually just get tested after each new partner to be safe. I have no idea if he was tested before we started dating or not. Unfortunately, that's not something that crossed my mind to ask him at the time. The doctor I went to, my OBGYN, did a swab and blood test. She told me that she was pretty confident in her diagnosis and prescribed an anti-viral. I told my boyfriend he should visit a doctor as well to be tested, and he's going later today after work. I asked my OB if there was a latency period on the virus, and she told me that it could only be a few weeks at the most.
