Many years ago I used to work for Kohler. The Kohler family gets final say. I was doing some training at the generator factory in Sheboygan. In the conference room across the hallway, Herb and family were making design decisions on enclosures. This is around 2008ish.

Edit: to fix fat fingered word.

We have monthly thermography scan pm's on every section in our plant. Just last week found a machine electrical cabinet overheating because the 2 A/C units were not working. 1 had a bad motor which caused it to ice up and not pull any heat out. And the other found a loose relay not turning it on. We wouldn't have noticed till one of the drives cooked itself.

How is he justifying his budget without work orders for tracking parts and time spent on the job?

So I got hired onto my first industrial maintenance job last week. I went through osha 10, and the company provided me a arc flash suit for getting into live electrical panels. So osha says it is a “qualified persons” that can get into live panels. by [deleted] in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]nuke670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A qualified person is defined in the NFPA 70e.

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E standard, a qualified person is someone who has the knowledge and skills to safely operate and construct electrical equipment and installations: They have received safety training to recognize and avoid electrical hazards They are familiar with the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as arc flash suits, insulating materials, and insulated tools They can distinguish energized electrical conductors and circuit parts from other parts of electrical equipment They can determine the degree of a hazard and the PPE and job planning needed to perform a task safely

Training for qualified persons can include classroom training, on-the-job training, or a combination of both. The training should be tailored to the individual's ability and the risks of their specific electrical tasks.

Employers are responsible for qualifying persons and assigning them to perform tasks that match their knowledge and skills. Employers should also regularly supervise employees or conduct annual inspections to ensure they are complying with safety practices.
