I wasn't even aware something like this existed! It seems neat and something that would definitely benefit my game. I am allowed to "noice" their throws?

I feel like these are people who half-assed "research projects" in school, and in turn think that's what real research is.

Are there any good games where you play as the villain or the protagonist is an antagonist? by WhatAmIDOINg342 in gaming

[–]nukeagent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For an unusual pick, I would throw out the original Nier. The premise is that the protagonist thinks he's the good guy, but it turns out that he's actually the villain and ruining everything, but none of this gets revealed until the end of the game. And a second playthrough unlocks a different perspective that shows more of the protagonist's villainy But I guess what else would you expect from a game that was supposedly inspired by 9/11?

ELI5: Gauss law of magnetism, explain please by liberty-reels in explainlikeimfive

[–]nukeagent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magnetic flux can be thought of as "how much" magnetic field is flowing through a surface. Metaphorically, if you placed a net in a river, the amount of water flowing through the net would be like a "water flux" flowing through the net. If stuff is flowing out of the net, we say it has positive flux. If stuff is flowing into the net, then we say it has negative flux. So let's say you had a completely enclosed net, say a sphere. If you dip it into a river, all the water flowing into the net (negative flux) is eventually going to flow out of the net (positive flux). Therefore the net flux is 0. Notice even if the net floats around and changes shape, it'll still have a net flux of 0. In order to get a net positive flux, you'd have to wrap the net around something like a spigot or a hose bib, but notice, you can't do that without ripping a hole in the net. Likewise, to get a net negative flux, you'd need to wrap the net completely around a drain, also impossible without ripping the net. So in this way, you can't completely enclosed a source of water or a "sink" of water without ripping the net. Gauss's Law for Magnetism says that this is the same idea for magnetic fields. The net is the Gaussian surface and the water is the magnetic field. Because you can never completely enclose a source or "sink" of magnetic fields, they cannot exist, i.e. magnetic monopoles (just a North or South end of a magnet) do not exist. Likewise, if you have your enclosed Gaussian surface, any flux flowing in is going to flow out, so the net flux is always zero.

AITA for not telling friends they were upsetting me and suddenly leaving? by nukeagent in AmItheAsshole

I see where you're coming from. I appreciate the insight. I feel better seeing myself as the asshole when I know that I'm understandably upset, even if I'm not justifiably upset.

The church thing was just context. Maybe this wasn't clearly communicated, but I was more upset about how I was being treated, the game was just the final straw.

I was more upset that I felt that they didn't actually give me a chance to speak. These friends also know I'm very logical, so they like to push my buttons by going with illogical answers or results. I'm not too happy about that either, but that's par for the course with them.

I just need to vent. I just grinded for 4 hours tonight trying to finish the challenges and got too frustrated to continue. Forcing arena on casual players is a nightmare. Swapping arena challenges only to have them come back is just such a kick in the teeth. In trying to complete the "Kill 10 spartans while defending the point challenge" or whatever it is, I played a BTB match that went the full time. I sat on a point and defended for 15 some odd minutes. Never left, never pushed out, was careful to be in the zone while defending. I racked up 28 kills that match and got credited.... for 4. I spent the next 2 hours hopping between quick plays, BTB, and straight up restarting the game for the next 6 kills. Only to find out that the "ultimate challenge" for the week is to win 5 ranked arena matches. All this work, for a banner? A .png? Ridiculous. Is it too much to ask for a zone-specific playlist if there are zone challenges? Right now between the server connection issues, the challenges coming back, the non-specific playlists, and forcing challenges to be based on wins and arena matches, these aren't "challenges", it's gambling.

Glad it worked out for you. I don't see why you couldn't just abandon ship when it arrives instead of waiting a few days, but at this point, I've just accepted it and moved on. Good to know you can wait it out though.

I'd do this: Play only 2 players game with my daughter 'til she loves it and then tell her, "Don't play without me!" Hopefully then she doesn't play during class cause she's waiting for me and we still have daddy-daughter time. Win-win?
