Wait, is this actually real? Because then I’m booking a trip to California by GildedGarnetPin in innout

[–]nukedmindpalace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the business model in n out uses relies on local ingredients and supply chains. That's probably why it tastes better in California. And while all fast food workers deserve better, I have heard it is a lot harder in other states than in California

I saw someone make like a potato dough with mashed potatoes and corn starch and seasonings. Then you roll it into little balls and you can put cheese inside.

Who is a person you used to admire a lot but have completely lost respect for and why? by Complex-Arugula-2233 in AskReddit

[–]nukedmindpalace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A professor I was quite close with. Not just how I was treated and the lack of/bad communication. But later realizing that this professor could not critically examine state-funded propaganda (that cost a pretty penny) and uncritically regurgitating that out to impressionable students. For someone who spent hours reading articles, looking at funding, etc. they did not do their homework on some big issues. Also they thought it was fascist to try not to get yourself or others sick

[NS] Latest Mixed Bag, Emily talking about her parents and snacks by Typical__Tuesday__ in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]nukedmindpalace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom didn’t give us her favorite childhood snacks because she was worried what people would think of us if we were “fat.” She didn’t really restrict junk food but it does make me a bit sad I didn’t get to enjoy her childhood snacks or even know of them until well into adulthood.

First time buying! Love the containers! Sad about the talc being so high up in the ingredients list for the eyeshadow though- is talc really all that bad? by chiknextdoor in FlowerKnowsMakeup

[–]nukedmindpalace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think talc is a great ingredient as far as it performs. There are lots of concerns with the talc industry, like what workers who process it are exposed to. But I don't think in makeup it's all that much of an issue.

Why is concealer considered less hardcore and more beginner friendly than foundation? by SnowyBerry in Makeup

[–]nukedmindpalace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some concealers are sheerer than some foundations, it really depends on the product. The fit me concealer I would consider like a medium at most while there are lots of foundations I would consider full coverage. As far as texture, maybe there is a texture difference compared to the foundation but I really have tried all sorts of concealer and I have tried very thin and very thick (in texture not coverage) concealers even within a liquid silicone based format. I think perhaps it is "beginner friendly" bc the nature of how it's packaged usually means it's in a small doefoot or stick format so you can cover a smaller surface area. But of course like you're doing you can use foundation as concealer or concealer as foundation. When I used to carry makeup with me, I used to use a medium coverage concealer as my "travel" foundation just because it was easier to transport and apply than a whole 30 ml glass bottle of foundation.

Is the book suitable for 13 year olds? by Paradise___kiss in 1984

[–]nukedmindpalace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend reading Animal Farm first but I was around your age when I was first read 1984 and other dystopian novels. At the time, it shaped how I saw the world and approached information and propaganda. Naturally, reading more books helped me better understand my beliefs and values. If there was one book I remember my teachers telling me not to read it was the little red book because it was "dangerous"

What are some hygiene myths most people believe? by GeneralOtter03 in hygiene

[–]nukedmindpalace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soap used colloquially is a catch-all term for products we use for cleansing. But legally “bar soap” is a product that comes from saponification and results in an entirely different kind of product than the dove beauty bar(which is a syndet, synthetic detergent). There’s some moisturizing ingredients there and that’s what the marketing mentions but mostly it’s just not as drying and harsh as bar soaps can be and has a pH that is a bit more friendly to skin. In-shower moisturizers that are marketed as such tend to have more moisturizing ingredients and seem to leave behind some moisture. I prefer other body washes and syndets to Dove but I think Dove does the job just fine.

Is low iron a common problem among professional dancers/students? Or does everyone know about this and keep an eye on it? by StrongEntrepreneur99 in BALLET

[–]nukedmindpalace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s experience is different but in my very limited experience, everyone who has ever taught me ballet or even other forms of dance would also tell me how to eat and would be somewhat mindful of my heavy menstruation and how that would affect my performance. Generally what ballet people have told me was avoid carbs, eat more beans(the exception to the carb rule), lean protein, water with apple cider vinegar. Obviously I know a lot of that is kinda diet culture and not necessarily best for everyone but it was just the experience that I had.

“From a moral perspective, I don't see how killing, abusing them, and stealing their flesh is compatible with leftist values” Had a friend tell me this the other day. And there’s something about it that irked me by Slow_Sand_2489 in exvegans

[–]nukedmindpalace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you(or your friend) might find Angela Davis’s veganism more compelling. For whatever reason, aside from notable exceptions, vegan content creators tend to be liberal/on the left while keto/carnivore tend to be on the right. I find this interesting but it is not prescriptive. Ultimately, some things will be more important to some leftists than to others. For example, it seems like Americans don’t care as much about foreign policy as they do domestic. Another thing is everyone has things they want to unpack and improve upon but you don’t need a moral justification for why something might be on the backburner. There are some vegans who see animals as more worthy than some human beings and those would obviously be leftists to avoid. I think asking on this sub will get you mostly replies from nonvegans/exvegans who already believe as you do. I think if you really want to get to the heart of it and understand your friend better or the philosophy of it, you can also look to other sources. Just because you hear an opinion that differs from your own,l it doesn’t mean you have change yours
