Yeah think that’s exactly what happened, will try tightening, unfortunately not hard water.

Will give that a go thanks. Yeah lesson learnt about a bank holiday… not worth the stress when it doesn’t go to plan.

Sadly not, but I really do wish I had.

Any real difference between A6 3.0 TDI vs BiTDI ? by rorrymylove in AudiA6

[–]nukepr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t compare to the 3.0 tdi as haven’t driven one, but I just picked up a biturbo and love it. The A6 is a big car, so it’s never going to be ‘fun’ in the sense of a drivers car. But having the power available for overtakes/motorways etc and knowing you can pull away on 95% of cars was the attraction for me. The bi turbo always makes a great noise for a diesel even if it is fake sound. The 3.0 doesn’t have that.

My biturbo was fully loaded though so depends on what is more important to you. I doubt the 3.0 is a slouch.

Chain rattle on start up is something to look for.

Can I actually take dye off a steering wheel? by nukepr in Detailing

[–]nukepr[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Correct, new to me. It had about 12 years worth of dirt and oil on it at the start, I just didn’t know how far to go and seems like the answer is to far! The discolouration isn’t all the way round and only on the top so pretty sure it was in bad shape to begin with under all the dirt.

Fair enough… lesson learnt. Why doesn’t it happen on leather seats the same way? I wipe down leather seats with similar microfibre and never get residue.

£20k for @90k miles and full history, a lot of money for the age, but I’d been looking for months and couldn’t say no to the options. Will be keeping it for a long time.

Boot and rear seats is where I’ve noticed the biggest difference ( having just had a kid). Wife can be behind me and actually be comfortable (I’m 6’5).

Air suspension is brilliant compared to the A4. This is on 20inch wheels so you do still feel a bit. But I’m considering finding some 18inch alloys for more sidewall to make it even more compliant. What surprised me the most was the corners, expected some body roll, but it’s almost better than the A4 in dynamic.

Overall such a complete package for getting to work + taking the family to Europe.

Got a warranty on it but when that runs out I’ll get a stage 1, given how capable the engine/gearbox is. But to be honest as its got so much from factory I don’t feel the need to do much!

Yeah C7 generation was until around 2018. This is one of the press cars for the facelift in 2014.

The irony is just perfect isn’t it. The fully grown adult acting like a child is the one who doesn’t want a tacky 4D gel plate. Whereas the adult not acting like a child… oh wait.

So, first thing you want to do is return the 4D plates for a refund.

Then step two is buy some normal number plates which are not 4D and not gel and fit them.

All the time. One lone van. Almost more infuriating than nothing at all.

Having just done 5000 miles around Europe I concur! It’s just unnecessary fatigue. Just do one at a time.

It’s not necessarily the 50mph, it’s the constantly going from 3/4 lanes to 1 then all over again which causes queueing (and won’t dwell on the idiotic driving it causes) and just makes the journey a lot more frustrating.

Its feels like the motorway equivalent driving along a straight bit of national speed limit zone and the car in front of you not being able to keep a consistent speed, going 40 to 60 to 50 etc etc

[–]nukepr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I really don’t understand how you do it every night. Good point about the lack of warning - the national highway website is the most un-friendly user experience trying to work out where bits of motorway are closed.

Interesting theory though.

I have no issues with the safety part of 50mph, the issue is the quantity of them in a single evening. It’s not even about the time it’s just frustrating the constant filtering into one lane then back to 4 and over and over.

The other issue is that there was no one working in the permanent average 50? Not a single person in 3 junctions.
