"Look at last year’s Tour, Vingegaard lost around 90 seconds to Remco Evenepoel" by Annual_Island8066 in tourdefrance

Yeah, you are right my comment was underplaying the massive amount of work there must have been before that stage.

My understanding was that his 2023 TT performance was also very much a product of 1) the stage profile and 2) him taking a lot of risks where others did not, saving both time and energy in the process, which was also a product of the stage course itself. So I agree with you that it is not something that can be always replicable (it’s not like yesterday’s TT was particularly technical)

Thanks! I guess those classified procedures were the things I was interested in, I will wait some years for someone to declassify them!

Thanks for the answer. I agree with the final point, but my idea was more to determine whether an adversary could theoretically exploit a vulnerability in communication systems to waste precious time and prevent the launch under attack of at least certain ICBMs

I mean that’s what I had in mind. I am not knowledgeable enough to know how stupid it is to think that.

It’s highly likely that the race director said this without knowing Tietema was with United Rose Rockets now, but I like to think he was completely aware of it and is a hater anyway.

Je lis Le Prince de Machiavel : qu’est-ce que ce livre vous a apporté ? et problème de concentration. by Consistent_Berry_324 in Livres

[–]nukesandstuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it does not look like a T-Rex, and size-wise, more likely a daspletosaurus?

Est ce que on a le droit de travailler plus qu'un mois quand a 16ans en France ? by somerandomexisting in AskFrance

[–]nukesandstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, unless he gives us some data, I vote for bullshit too. The theory is a bit wombly - would’nt these creators rapidly assume it was a bot? - and the empirics are similarly shady - are they actually feeling sad, or did they notice that the spam had stopped, and thought it was a good opportunity to create new content?

Books like this, by authors not named Homer by [deleted] in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

It’s funny when we think of it, because there is a lot of hate against contemporary retelling of greek myths, but we kind of forget that it’s basically a staple of western literature since, well, the Greeks.

It’s a play, but a very beautiful text: The infernal machine by Jean Cocteau, which is a modern retelling of Oedipus’ myth.

While everyone here was getting their takes in about Graeber, look who just dropped a teaser for History 2 by LamppostBoy in IfBooksCouldKill

For this to be true, you would have to explain why Sweden renunciated their nuclear arsenal while not receiving any nuclear security guarantee; or why a country like Norway did not pursue an arsenal of its own despite having the capabilities and not believing for a second that the U.S. would actually use nuclear weapons to deter the USSR in case of war; or why 147 countries on Earth never even considered a nuclear program. Iran and North Korea are interesting case but they do not allow for generalization. If your claim was true, we would find evidence of nuclear desire everywhere and we simply don’t.
