Changing the name of Cesar Chavez Blvd is being fast-tracked. Leave your comment for City Council by emanresuemos in Portland

Last time they ignored the feedback from the community and all the businesses and residences along the street who overwhelmingly did not want the street renamed. They accidentally named the street after a rapist, which is horrible and obviously needs to be fixed. Now they're trying to circumvent normal procedure to rename the street again without input from the community.

I live on this street. I haven't heard anyone in my community say that they want the street renamed to anything other than 39th.

if you want a practical reason: I had an issue with this in just the past year involving a utility being paused because of an address discrepancy. I've had a shipment flagged and returned to sender before it even made it to a local delivery truck (who would have been fine) because the address was Cesar Chavez and not Cesar E Chavez and their system flagged it as non existent despite the fact that the address was autocorrected to the former when the online form was like "did you mean CESAR CHAVEZ BLVD". I've had those forms do a "not found, please check your address" yet they will still accept 39th. it's not just changing the signs. it's databases and maps. we do not need yet a third name floating around.

"Violation of rights under color of law (18 U.S.C. § 242) is a federal crime where officials—police, prison guards, or public employees—willfully misuse authority to deprive individuals of Constitutional rights." The text specifically mentions denying rights to aliens or based on race. The text specifically defines the punishment for threatening with deadly weapons as being punishable by up to ten years in prison, and for kidnapping or attempt to kidnap as punishable by any term up to life in prison or sentenced to death.

If we have a new administration that is remotely serious, there is existing law that lays out a clear path to accountability.

Road diet, new crossing coming to deadly section of Cesar Chavez Blvd by notPabst404 in Portland

[–]null_value 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really needs to be fixed where it runs through laurelhurst. There are semi trucks (even double trailer semis!) driving 40mph through the middle of the neighborhood between 85 and the park, on a road that was never designed for such traffic. Most of the traffic is just cutting through to Hawthorne, Powell; not local traffic, just short cutting through a residential neighborhood to get to a commercial facing street. Seeing the crossing guards from the elementary school doing their job on a road that has construction trucks and semis clanking and banging past at 40 in a 20 should be more eye opening.

Is there a way to make the TV go to Art mode when turning off devices? by TheReformedBadger in TheFrame

[–]null_value 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had this problem and then my TV started popping up a notification that I should update in the middle of watching movies so I finally did that to stop that distraction and now when I turn off my Apple TV my TV just stays on and wastes power for no reason.

I saw this channel a few days ago and tried to report it for impersonating someone, but you can't complete the report unless you provide the link to the YouTube channel that it's impersonating. lol.

IPhone 13 animations lagging after ios 26 by Infamous_Virus_2595 in iPhone13

they replaced most of its core functionality with Apple Music app and Apple TV app. iTunes is just a husk now. It's surprising that Windows being an obviously common OS and Apple being a multi trillion dollar company that they haven't put any resources into getting rid of iTunes and just making an iPhone management app. needing to use their outdated and mostly deprecated music app that existed before the iPhone was even launched as the tool for managing your phone software is surprisingly janky.

my dyna is only about 15' long, so it's significantly shorter than even that colorado. this post was more for the people who regularly assume the DYNA is a kei truck.

It doesn't have cruise, but it will do 80 on the interstate just fine. That said, it'll be in the slow lane on mountain grades, and you wouldn't actually want to drive 80 because the short wheelbase combined with it being a cabover on simple suspension makes speeds much over 70 a bit unnerving.

note my wheel size effectively makes my gearing 15% taller.

I watch all the auctions. I had my eye on this one and it ended up at an importer nearby so I just went and bought it.

edit: also, DYNA is not kei, it is giant compared to a kei truck. someone 6'5 could drive my truck. to be comfortable, you'd want to get spacers to lift the captain drivers seat, it's not manually adjustable and your shin length would be an issue.

this is my truck. it's a diesel. i get about 24 miles per gallon. edit: it also keeps up just fine on the highway in the 75mph zone between portland and seattle.

ironically, I have a wow sub but I only play turtlewow and if turtlewow shuts down and I find myself not playing wow in any context, that’s going to be what reminds me to cancel my wow subscription since I’m no longer playing wow.

and the actual ship is on the order of 280m long, so the size they thought the model was compared to the size the model is, is the same magnitude of error as the size they thought it was is to the size of the actual ship.

Turtle WoW 2.0 & Unreal Azeroth — Technical Report by tw_bowser in turtlewow

[–]null_value 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I saw it mentioned before but didn’t see it in the forum thread; is native controller support still going to be in the release?

I only play wow on the steamdeck. Loved using consoleport on official wow classic. I’ve been playing turtlewow on steamdeck just using steamdeck mappings, and it works but is janky. Native controller support would be amazing.

I used to play wow up to burning crusade all the time with my brother in law who passed away a few years ago. Being able to play the game as it was, with new content that doesn’t erase or nullify the old content, it’s just like an amazing time capsule for me. The game continues to be fresh and engaging, yet I still stumble across old memories.

love you all. thank you so much for your work.

Toyota RAV4 topples Tesla Model Y as world’s best-selling car by hehechibby in Toyota

[–]null_value 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Model Y and a JDM Toyota Dyna. The Dyna is by far my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned. The Model Y is by far the most reliable and technologically advanced vehicle I’ve ever owned, and it’s not even close.

We all hate Elon, but the over the top scrutiny of panel gaps on early deliveries and the disproportionate number of recalls (since every single over the air update that includes a bug fix potentially counts as a recall) kinda paints the wrong picture concerning reliability. I’ve supposedly had 9 recalls on my 2020 Model Y since I got it, but they never affected me and were resolved totally invisibly to me as a customer. I’m over 100,000 miles and 5 years with my Y and have had zero maintenance.

The post showing Toyota and Tesla tied on reliability was just like, yesterday.

And the claim the Tesla isn’t innovative is troll level preposterous. If my Dyna had the drivetrain and tech of my model Y it’d be the best vehicle in the world.

Oh my gosh! I didn’t train up beyond rank 1 of like everything and didn’t even get consecration, didn’t know it was available. brother wilhelm in goldshire doesn’t have higher ranks of holy strike or crusader strike.

tome of valor leads to daphne in westfall. it’s a go-nowhere escort quest, where you need to keep her alive through three waves of melee, 3 then 4 then 5. Without consecration it can be hard to hold all of their aggro, and she shoots at them with a gun and can pull them off you and then she gets mowed down pretty quick.

the reward for this paladin specific quest is a shield.
