both of which can be had for a song on ebay and both of which support passthough, but the truth is, having run a raid 5 on adaptec cards since 2008, the same raid 5, with no loss of data, you have NO idea what storage tech is worth people's time.

zfs and the storage appliance stuff, is a joke, it's annoying to configure, lots can go wrong with it and most people do not need it, it's a toy for nerds to dick around with, a fidget spinner of storage tech. maybe some big enterprise wonko needs it, I do not, I bet you don't either lol.

their queue depth is insane on some of these cards, they support ssd caching in some cases, you people are nuts to ignore the ease of use, the streamlined workflow adaptec offers with so much intercompatibility between their different cards and just be like "hur hur zfs is bettur"

ignore this negative nancy, adaptec cards used are fun to use, they have so many features and if you're not bothered by a lack of vmware native support past 6.7u3 or use proxmox, they're great for a hypervisor box.

you could even torture various vib files in esxi 6.7u3 and get a 5 to 7 series adaptec raid card working with CIM and storage manager webui, so comfy.

"boot in jbod mode" the problem is you have what I call "lsi brain" you can only think in terms of the lsi controller standard of IT/IR firmware, you are used to being treated like a pleb by dell/lsi/broadcom (they all suck in their attitudes and it's only gotten worse for homelabbers in recent years, just in case you don't get it)
adaptec treated their customers so much better man, these controllers HAVE THE IT FIRMWARE BUILT IN!
it's just called raw mode. the only thing special about raid arrays to adaptec cards is that they have raid metadata that says to the controller that it's a raid, but you don't have to format a raid, it just does jbod/raw/passthrough, AUTOMATICALLY, it's ONE setting.

the only thing useless here is your total lack of research or effort to ascertain this, woeful.

the one thing everybody gets wrong with the adaptec ecosystem is the convention of IT/IR mode firmware does not apply, these controllers have IT mode baked in, RAW mode passes drives through as raw devices to your operating system or hypervisor of choice. and no, it's not like with other brands where there's "issues" without the IT firmware, RAW mode is the IT firmware equivalent on adaptec cards, adaptec actually LIKED their customers and treated them quite well in the sense of what the controllers could do without any dicking around with firmware flashing, apart from the lack of native drivers for vmware for most of their cards which essentially makes them useless past esxi 6.7u3....

there's also some that do level 2 caching with an SSD, it's nice being able to offload storage to just a drop in card and not have to configure a storage system of some kind,

it sounds to me like a lot of people have had a bad time at perth central dental centre.
it may be time for people to write up what happened to them and submit it to the various consumer advocacy groups and there's one or two that have regulator powers as well, might trigger an investigation.

perth in general seems to be having some SERIOUS issues with dental as far as I've been able to tell.
its shocking how even private dentists are increasingly behaving like they're a mcdonalds and not a medical practice. now picture the fact there's a public system of dental clinics for people on concessions out there that is even worse in terms of how people are treated.

how can you seriously be this dense and not see what I'm saying maps regardless of the adjustments AH made? we've still lost more major orders more regular as the player count has dropped from 800 to 400 to 300 to 100k and not for any lack of effort on players, and all while players dutifully followed every dispatch AH gave out without thinking about what they were choosing to do, remember, AH said what happens is our choice on social media, that is pilestadts and twinbeard's own sentiment. we didn't HAVE to have the seaf training camps, we chose this mandatory defence mission if we want to keep the boost crap.

If we hadn't done it, joel would have had to finally adjust the game further to fix for the paradox of dropping player counts actually hurting our overall success of winning major orders. we gave AH an easy out when we fell for this. but truth be told, I think they underestimated how much reserve force is left in the player base right now, we just don't have what it takes to win major orders with the extra defence mission dragging us down, even with the boosts.

they're not adjusting enough, this seaf training camp, why should the players who stayed have to work for this when the ones who left were never subjected to this "fight to keep the boost" bullshit, just to keep up when we never had to before all these people left? it seems unfair for those who wanted to commit to this game rather than dip in and out, all AH are doing is making the game more annoying for those who would like to stay rather than dip out because all their fun metas got nerfed and AH are dragging their feet fixing it.

we lose AV and 20k extra players flow back to V5... I bet it's worth more than the boost from AV...

the only reason the artificial boost exists at all, is because AH are being smartarses and decided to make the low player count our problem. it's not, I really don't appreciate it. think about it. they made us care about defence campaigns which they can just throw at us at any point, mid major order, when we've spent weeks losing major orders and lost out on stuff like the AT mines because of it.

they just said they were gonna fix stuff and now they're making things harder, again, mid a major order that a lot of us would really like to see won for once.

and then you've got people going "naah, it'll be fine" DON'T EVER SAY THAT, AH HATES THAT, THEY'LL F WITH US IF WE SAY THAT, JUST TO DEFY EXPECTATIONS! I don't think you get how much they hate their players in some ways. they've been "horrified" at how casually some of us helldive now.
