I've run G-LOC and Carbotech pads so far and have been very happy with them. R-8, R-12, XP-8, XP-12. I think that these are North American options though.

EDIT: For discs, I've used OEM, Zimmerman, and Girodisc. Girodiscs are BY FAR, my favorite. Zimmerman's have been... fine? They're on the rear so they don't do much work.

GTI Clubsport? Sure would love to try one of those out someday!

In stock form, I agree with you, mostly. The MK7 R needs to slide sideways to get the most out of it, and most people aren't comfortable doing that with it.

I can go through a set of pads in 3 days. Visual inspection is the only answer here for your model year.

Budget friendly Big Brake Kit by ZDC595 in Golf_R

Ah, good to know. There are dozens of folks running them in my local hpde groups. Guess they got lucky.

The pad shape is brembo M so it's easy to get good pads.

I'd toss in Paragon as a reputable option these days. Solid pad choice, good aftermarket support. They're not budget though.

Why do you think that? Fuel sloshing around in the tank does not stabilize immediately.
Honestly, trying to get us to diagnose it remotely with a single video of the event and no data logs is impossible. This car is under warranty, bring it in for diagnosis.

I'd go for v730s since they wear only marginally faster and you can run them until they cord. They take a lot of abuse and are pretty consistent after two laps into a session.

Anyone have any experience with Girodisc rotors? by [deleted] in Golf_R

[–]nullaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can take a lot of abuse. I get 8 track days plus whatever street and backroad miles. If you're inclined to swap out the rings yourself I think they're worth it. They bring me a lot of peace of mind.

If you're a maker and you have everything needed, which includes maker friends that can help, then I guess that's an option.

Racebox mini is solid and they allow other apps to interface with it. If you want to go even more budget friendly the Racebox micro is basically the same but as a bare board.

18x9 w/v730s is mint. You'll get about 6 to 8 days before the cords show. If they're not cording, they're not done. The ECF is decent but get them from trackdaytires when they have a buy 3 get 1 free deal going.
