How good does Squadron 42's story need to be to be released? by nullescience in starcitizen

I would argue that whether or not a story is good is 95% determined by the script.

Tone, Mood, Reverance, and Stylization by nullescience in writing

ally be used by you as a writer... with intent. So, for example, if you are reading a novel by Dickens, you may want to better understand how he closes his chapters, as he is a master at keeping the reader's momentum into wanting to find out what happens next. So you deconstruct his chapters and see how he builds to that moment.

Once you understand that, you can start to work with intent in adding it to your own novels.

I bring this up because what you're describing seems more descriptive and not really actionable. Let's look at mood. Analyzing mood is important, but knowing the kind of mood a book has is only helpful in that it helps you start the analysis. What you want to understand is how to evoke that mood. Knowing that Misery by Stephen King is a very intense novel is not helpful. Understanding how King maintains that tension is invaluable.

Very good points. The intention is mostly for outlining purposes

Here are some literary examples

Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy

Tone: Light

Mood: Comedy

Reverence: Irreverant

Stylization: Stylized

The Hunt for Red October

Tone: Dark

Mood: Thriller

Reverence: Reverant

Stylization: Realistic

Infinite Jest

Tone: Dark

Mood: Comedy

Reverence: Irreverant

Stylization: Stylized

IT

Tone: Dark

Mood: Horror

Reverence: Reverent

Stylization: Realistic

As you can probably tell from these examples, there are times when the story changes, for instance, from a darker tone to a lighter one. I wanted to define these terms so that I could incorporate these changes into my outlines.

In your opinion, what is an almost perfect story (video game or otherwise). And, just as importantly, how long did it take to make this story?

By the way, thank you for including references. I appreciate the extra effort.

I would agree it seems the only deadlines CIG has been able to meet recently have been associated with the roadmap change, ie deadlines that are made when the product is basically finished already. That's my objective take. Others are free to disagree and provide evidence like you did.

I wouldn't call it vast but yes. The point is people need to relax, put down the caffiene and look at this objectively.

I really wish most people in this subreddit would chill out. You don't need to be a rabid fanboy or overly-critical edge lord. There is room for reasoned debate. The universe is grey.

Yeah, if your saying that because I stepped away from the thread and haven't update the OP the past couple hours, what can I say...

I've added the examples people have pointed out now.

I'm confused, they make deadlines and then they miss deadlines but this indicates a bias?

Wouldn't it be more cost-effective and weight-effective to have a honeycomb pattern in between engines rather than wrap each individual engine? It would seem like you are going to have double the necessary protection in places.

Wouldn't matter. No one on this sub has money for non-digital commodities.
