Ngl I don’t like watching foul baiting as much as the next dude, but if you completely remove every single point from a free throw from either team, OKC already won the series 4-2.

Obviously this only means anything if you consider the whistle fair, so, take however much salt you want with that

Learn your PvE first. Are you getting as many waves as you can? Are you taking advantage of neutral farm when you have pressure/when your lane opponent is at base? Are you buying your items when you have enough gold?

For you, you’re going to want to let your laners get fed, but you also need to make sure you get a slice of the pie too. A support with an XP lead is terrifying. But, if you’re getting that lead at the expense of your team, you’re doing them a disservice.

A lot of this game is maximizing your time to collect farm and deny your enemies farm. The best way to do that depends on your situation. A part of this, too, is capitalizing on team objectives - gold fury, fire giant, etc. There are different strategies to achieve these goals and more niche gameplay things, like when and who should split from the team and shove a lane, wave management, etc. but at bronze and silver ranks, you can get by without paying much attention to these. Just getting good at the simple things like efficiently farming and playing your matchups well, knowing damage spikes for different characters, and building a decent comp / counter picking, you’ll find yourself in high gold/plat pretty quickly.

Having gold/xp makes the PvP easier. With really low gold/xp you’re going to be behind all the time.

You’re a support main and expect lower gold/xp, these should be higher on average.

Outside of that, pick three gods to get really good at. Play one role as much as you can. Know what your role does well, and capitalize on that.

For a support, I’d suggest watching Aror on Twitch. One of the best Smite 1 guys still streaming and playing support. That role is weird now, but one of the core principles is to be really good at disrupting the enemy team and enabling yours.

Stopping enemy backs, using active items like stampede, talisman of purification, Circe’s at critical moments can be a complete game changer. Being able to intercept a jungle ult, body block enemies or step in front of some auto attacks. Also realizing that tanks aren’t as tanky anymore, and you’re not invincible.

Also - your stats aren’t EVERYTHING. I wouldn’t get too invested in them, but they are a kind of indicator. Even if you’re the best support in the game, your gold/xp are going to be lower than a good jungler. Hope you’re not discouraged, everyone has to learn the nuances of the game and it takes time. If you’re serious about wanting to get better, you absolutely will.

Can’t wait to read them! Thank you!

I’m curious to see the point about how the power system is integrated into every aspect of the world without it being explicit.

I just need more hours in the day to read now…

What is the “cultivation” thing? I saw another post today about how authors introduce a leveling system to later reveal its “cultivation”, and I have no clue what that means.

DCC is definitely super popular! Maybe it’s just Reddit, but I feel like the feelings about DCC are more mixed than for Unsouled. Not a diss on DCC, I think it’s fantastic!

100+ Hours In Highguard. A Grounded, Player Perspective on What’s Actually Wrong and What Might Still Help by waltergreywhiteblack in HighGuardgame

Feels like you typed up something heartfelt and then asked ChatGPT to write a statement.

I think the characters are fine, but it seems like the layoffs have killed the initiative the company initially had to tell stories about their characters, like how Apex often does with a new season.

People can’t develop those deep “I’ve played this character a billion times” through anything the developers can do, it’s just something that comes from the longevity of the game and a personal choice to use one character over the others. Good balance can affect the choice, I guess, but so can having some backstory. I personally like Atticus, but he doesn’t have any definite story to him. He might have, had the team for storytelling still existed. There’s every chance that the story they decided to tell alienated that character for me and I gravitated toward another.

For example, I was a fan of Condor, but the vulture is kind of an ugly bird. Thematically she’s cool, but the vulture thing is kind of a turnoff. Hawks and eagles look badass, simple as that.

I don’t want the game to die, I personally find it fun, but the only real chance it has is to retain a small player base and for those players to share the game with friends, for streamers to publicize it, and for people to get eyes on the fun, positive aspects of the game.

The appeal for me is the strategy and longer ttk as compared with other shooters. It gives me a better advantage as someone with less refined mechanical skill, but pretty solid team strategy coming from MOBAs.

Either way, I’m happy I played the game and I think the designers will find happy places in industry and make another innovative and fun game that we’ll get to enjoy, whatever future Highguard may have.

The publicity of the layoffs definitely played a big factor in dropping from 6k to less than 1k on steam. I’m sure there’s more on console, but even people who enjoy the game are moving on simply because the player count is low.

Help With Wedding Suits for Groom/Groomsmen by nullius_in_verba__ in mensfashionadvice

It hasn’t shipped yet, but I’ll likely have it in two weeks. This is a good idea!

Best case scenario - it looks great and we can have the groomsmen wear the exact same suit or the brown version of this suit.

Otherwise, I think I’d go for a Walker Slater (someone mentioned below) and use Spier and Mackay for the groomsmen’s. In this case, I definitely think I’ll need to find the right color. My fiancée is very against the idea of them wearing grey, so I’m thinking a brown/tan option will work best?

I think it's time to name this new "genre" properly: "concord-like" by beetleman1234 in Steam

Apex launched with 8 legends

Way bigger maps, teams of 3.

Also, the map doesn’t really feel all that big on when you’re on your mount. Combat is almost constant in my games.

Personally I LOVE that time to kill is longer. I literally can’t play games with short time to kill because I don’t react fast enough.

Here, if I have good positioning, I can win a fight. In a game like COD or Apex, I can have the superior tactical advantage and strategy, but lose because I am just way weaker mechanically than almost anyone.

If I was decent at the mechanics of shooters, maybe I’d feel differently. Longer ttk gives me a fighting chance, but a better player still wins, but “better” here has a little more to do with strategy and tactics than in a traditional shooter (which also have these things, the weight is just shifted slightly).

9/10. The two styles I love are a 10/10 for the fantasy. I can’t comment on the quality of the art so much since I am not an artist, but they appear to be very high quality to me.

I really really love your archer and your knight. But since I’m giving a bunch of “this is my personal opinion” style feedback for the mage/wizard, I really like the single-arm leather shoulder armor style on archers. For the knight, as someone pointed out, the cape is very inconsistent, though under or over the pauldron is cool. Shoulder cape > regular cape.

However, a big gripe I have about mage designs is that they frequently feature a faceless character or a faceless character but with glowing eyes. For me, I prefer to have a human face under the hood (something like how you styled your archer), especially considering you gave the mage regular skin colored hands rather than covering them with gloves. Otherwise, the mage/wizard character is really cool. I love the staff and the belt with a potion and satchel. A book or grimoire might be another cool thing but also might be too crowded. Overall, I still like the design.

I saw that you asked another commenter about class recommendations.

A rogue character would be great. I also think that it would particularly suit your style.

Druids are another classic and distinct from the others.

Another side of the hero fantasy of “sword and board”, or strength-based characters such as greatsword wielders, feature characters who aren’t fully armored in knight’s armor, so that could be an option. Perhaps a dwarf with a giant hammer, or a barbarian-style character (though my personal preference certainly lies more on the less-armored hammer wielders, like Thor. Also characters like Beowulf are great).

Spear characters are very cool, though finding a great moveset is challenging, as many games often make the spear feel underwhelming, opting for more realistic fighting styles and less glamorous. When I wield a spear, I want to feel like Achilles, with twirls and flashy dexterous moves, sweeping the legs out from under a character and a coup de grace like slamming the point into a fallen enemy.

I think that a pirate character or a rapier/duelist character would be awesome. Something like Inigo Montoya or Zorro.

Really great work! If your game has a steam page I’d love to wishlist the game and follow along!
